The original front wrapper has some small areas of loss to the edges and corners and has been professionally laid down. Bound in modern half red crushed morocco by C. Walters. Spine with raised bands, ruled in blind. Compartments lettered in gilt. Boards with dark red cloth. Burgundy endpapers. Previous owners bookplate (Douglas Peter Crossman, Earl Stonham) on front pastedown endpaper. Given by Members of earlier Crews to have rowed at Henley on Thames. 27 handwritten signatures on Menu, including those of previous Australian Rowing crews. Menu also contains the signatures of 13 members of the Australian Olympic Rowing Team for the Helsinki Games. Notable signatures include Mervyn Wood, who was the flagbearer for Australia at the Games and who also won a Silver medal in the Mens Single Skulls Event. Also, signatures of David Anderson, Philip Cayzer, Ernest Chapman, Thomas Chessel, Mervyn Finlay, Robert Tinning and Geoffrey Williamson who were part of the Bronze medal winning Australian eights. This boxing history starts with the 18th-century James Figg, the first English bare-knuckle boxing champion. Covers with soil spots, frayed cloth at extremities.
