Sobre este artículo

Venezia: Presso Francesco Pitteri, 1770. Second Edition. Hardcover. Second edition in Italian. Two volumes. xx, 447pp; 400pp. There are several misnumbered pages. Recent half mottled calf over marbled boards, spine with raised bands, decorated and lettered in gold, edges sprinkled red. Engraved frontispiece, twenty copper-engraved foldout plates, initials and tail-pieces in volume one; title vignette, eighteen copper-engraved foldout plates, initials and tail-pieces in volume two. A massive treaty that covers every aspect of surgery, from tending to wounds to performing complex procedures. Garrison and Morton states: "Heister is the founder of scientific surgery in Germany... This was the most popular surgical text of the 18th century; it underwent numerous editions and translations". The plates show numerous surgical instruments and their application. Old dampstains affecting the edges, scattered foxing throughout. Short tears (not affecting text) to four of the leaves, some old mends to five of the leaves and one of the plates. There was a third separate volume with a different title (and only two plates) dedicated to the eye which is not included here. Garrison-Morton 5576. ; Octavo.
