Covers show just a hint of rubbing, and remain bright and clean. Book plate of J. H. Bullard on front paste down, and his inked name with the date of 1922 is seen on the first blank page following free end page. Small book seller's decal at bottom of front free end page, and light rubbing/scuffs can be seen on the same page. Volume remains tight and is otherwise bright and clean. A lovely copy of this scarce title.

Hulmandel, London, 1832-1837; Hand colored stone lithograph by John and Elizabeth Gould of a Rufus-Backed Egret (Ardea rufsata ) from Gould’s "The Birds Of Europe," issued in parts between 1832-1837. Frame size 19 1/2" x 25 1/2", inside matte dimensions 13 1/2" x 19 1/2". Excellent condition, clean, vivid, no tears, or creases. Narrow mat burn. Original descriptive text leaf affixed to the back of the frame together with shop label of prestigious Brooks Frame and Art Shop, Westwood Village, California, now long gone. A graceful and delicate ornithological subject. Ships to U.S. only.

Amsterdam: Joannem Jacobi fil. Schipper, 1657 A fair copy of the extremely scarce Insectis section of Jan Jonston's famous work Historiae Naturalis. Jonston (1603-1675) studied botany and medicine and was a doctor. This copy is classed as 'fair' because it has been rebound in plain buckram binding without the title page, and the paper is very soft and lightly stained to the bottom outer corner margin. Contents are otherwise complete with 28 full page plates. The binding is clean and sound with gilt titles to spine. Contents: new endpapers; dedication 1p; Preface with plate list 3pp; Referenda ad pagninam 2pp with Plate I; text liber I pp 1-84; liber II 85-128; liber III 129-138; liber IV 139-147 with 27 further plates placed with relevant text; index 1p. Interestingly the final section includes starfish and seahorses. The contents are in very good clean condition apart from the paper damage mentioned above which has resulted in crumbling to the bottom corner of the dedication and preface leaf.
