Some loss to the paper on the boards, affecting 7 letters of the address at the bottom. Spine with just a little darkening. Overall a very good copy. Uncommon inscribed by Gill. --Evan Gill. Just a hint of darkening to the spines of both bindings but overall this is a near fine, lovely set of these classic books.

Finely bound in a contemporary full dark green morocco binding by Ramage of London. Spine with five raised bands, ruled in gilt. The compartments with gilt ruled lines, flower and star designs and lettering. Decorative flower and leaf designs to both boards, within a wavy line border which is surrounded by multiple stars, within a ruled line border, all in gilt. Elaborate gilt tooled stars, flowers and decorative roll borders to the inner boards with off-white moire silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owners neat inscription, dated 1914, to the front blank free endpaper. Spine faded to an attractive tan colour and the front board to a lighter green but still a beautiful fine binding from the library of W. A. A beautiful copy of this first English edition of the Author's autobiographical novel, set against the backdrop of the 1905 Russian revolution, inspired by his childhood in Odessa.

Overall an attractive set of eighteenth century bindings. Previous owners bookplate on front paste downs.

The title page has the title, author name and blurb 'at this point, it looked like curtains for james bond; he was skimping on his work, gambling, wenching, and on the edge of becoming a security risk' (sic). Blue cloth binding with silver lettering to the spine. Publishers sewn-in blue silk bookmark. The dustwrapper is printed in blue to the front panel, showing Bond holding his gun, between lettering and a target design. Spine lettered in blue. No other printing to the wrapper. ----- A rare curiosity.
