Sobre este artículo

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1995. First Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1995. First Edition, stated. Signed and dated by the author on the half-title, without inscription. Octavo, cloth-backed paper-covered boards, 399 pp. including index. Fine book in Fine jacket, but for the jacket's being price-clipped. A scarce signed copy of the first edition of Syracuse University history professor Stephen Webb's revisionist look at the early relationship between England and the American colonies. From the jacket: "Having earlier demonstrated that the Anglo-American empire was classic in its form, administered by an army, committed to territorial expansion, and motivated by a crusading religion, Webb now argues that both England and its American social experiments were the underdeveloped elements of an empire emerging on both sides of the Atlantic and that the pivotal movement of that empire, the so-called "Glorious Revolution", was in fact a military coup driven by religious fears." The iconoclastic Webb has also authored "The Governors-General: The English Army and the Definition of the Empire, 1569-1681" [1979] and "1676: The End of American Independence" [1984]. l-33n
