First edition. 8vo; 175pp; pale green cloth over board, color pictorial onlay stamped title to spine; black and orange illustrations to every page; gift inscription to fly leaf dated 1912; scuffing and fading to cover, damp staining to bottom front fly leaf, light damp staining to bottom some pages, a few smudges; very good minus. Self-published but possibly printed by The John C Winston Co., Philadelphia. The first in a series of books about Mary Frances and her adventures. Jane Eayre Fryer (1876- ?) was a teacher of Latin and English, and later domestic art and science. This is the first of her Mary Frances books, all aimed at the young female reader, with a mind of teaching the domestic arts or sciences in a fun and novel way. Mary Frances meets friends in all of her adventures, and is frequently helped through her lessons by fairies.
