Wesley Bradshaw was the pseudonym of author and publisher Charles Wesley Alexander (1837-1927). Irregular pagination, as published, pp. [2], 21-30, [31-32], 39-52, [53-54], 61-74, [75-76], 85-100; Frontispiece. Full-page woodcut illustrations included in the pagination. "A thrilling narrative of the adventures of Miss Pauline D'Estraye, a young and beautiful French lady, who, after performing the most heroic deeds in Virginia, in behalf of the Union, was sent officially to the Department of the Mississippi, where she rendered herself for ever famous by her conspicuous daring and bravery during the Vicksburg Campaign under Major-General U. S. Grant." Some page edges have short tears. Some staining and foxing. Pages 43-44 have a piece missing along the edge, about the size of a thumb (some text is missing). Some pages loosening, but holding. Rebound. Acetate cover. Scarce.
