Each volume with red morocco title label, decorated and lettered in gilt. Some rubbing and chipping to most volumes and a few hinges cracked but all still holding. Overall an attractive set of eighteenth century bindings. Previous owners bookplate on front paste downs.

Frontis portrait and engraved title page cut on wood by Gwen Raverat. Top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Fine leather binding of recent full blue morocco, raised bands, gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. A lovely copy of this beautifully produced volume.

John Camden Hotten & George Routledge and Sons. London.,1869 & 73. FIRST EDITIONS. Two volumes. The first volume was first published by Hotten, as here, before being transfered to Routledge. Both volumes illustrated throughout the text by the author. Finely bound in contemporary half black calf. Spines with raised bands,red title labels, gilt. Compartments decorated in gilt.Black pebble grain cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. All edges dyed red. Small (1.5 inch) split to the top hinge of first volume but still holding firm. Some rubbing to edges but overall a very good set in attractive early bindings.:

Spine with raised bands, ruled and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt. A lovely, fine copy of this classic account of country life in the Cotswolds between the wars.

Longmans, Green, and Co. London. 1900. SECOND EDITION, published November 1900, the month after the October first edition. 8vo. (7.6 x 5.2 inches). xiv, 409pp. Portrait frontis, with tissue guard, and ten maps & plans throughout, including large fold-out colour map at end. A fine clean, bright copy, recently bound in half dark blue morocco. Spine with raised bands, decorated with gilt piping. Navy blue cloth to boards. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. A fine copy. The binding isn't signed but is certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

John Murray. London.,1815. FIRST EDITION. 8vo.(8.5 x 5.6 inches). Lovely clean, wide margined copy in contemporary full red straight grained morocco. Elaborate gilt decoration to spine and corners of boards, within a triple ruled border. Centre ruled panel in gilt. Gilt inner dentelles. Blue coated endpapers. All edges gilt. Spine a bit darkened and rubbed. Boards with areas of darkening to top(where the book has sat on a shelf betwen shorter books). Overall a very good copy in a very good, highly attractive early binding. Herbert's great Scandinavian poem appears to have only been printed twice in his life-time, This first edition and a second printing of 1816.:

Spine with five raised bands, one compartment lettered in gilt. Decorative gilt roll on turn ins. Plain white endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owner's pretty illustrated circular bookplate on front pastedown endpaper and another name neatly written, with the date 1912 below, on the front free endpaper. A clean and bright copy in a fine early twentieth century leather binding.

Walker. ii, 262pp. Some very light spotting to a few pages but overall a very good copy in a recent period style binding of half tan calf. Spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Red and green labels, gilt. Marbled paper on boards. ---- An important early feminist utopian novel. The most famous work of Sarah Scott (1720-1795), 'Millenium Hall' describes a female utopia, free from male violence, where property is held in common and a community of women conduct lives devoted to artistic pursuits and education, Christian virtues, and philanthropy. Through its focus on female equality, education and friendship, and with the Hall forming a model of mid-century reform ideas, it provided a fictional embodiment of the ideals of the Blue Stockings Society, of which Scott was a member and of which her… Leer más

In the rare original delux publishers dark green morocco leather binding with gilt ruling and lettering to the front panel. A little rubbing to the edges but overall a superior copy of this fragile book. Small printed paper label of a New York Bookseller on the rear blank endpaper. An attractive copy of this uncommon little book. Published on 28th March 1912 in two binding variants; beige printed paper covered boards, issued at 25 cents, and this delux leather version at 50 cents. -- Richards A254.

Decorative patterned endpapers printed in green, black and red. A hint of rubbing to the extremities but overall a near fine copy. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master bookbinder.
