Churchill arriving at 10 Downing Street for lunch with Prime Minister Anthony Eden on 29 July 1955 following Edens return from the Geneva summit with the U.S., Soviet, and French leaders. This image measures 10 x 8 in (25.4 x 20.3 cm) on matte photo paper. Condition is very good minus. The paper is crisp, clean, and free of scuffing. The verso bears the copyright stamp of P.A.-Reuter Photos Ltd., a published stamp of The Daily Telegraph from 30 July 1955, remnants of a typed caption, handwritten printing notes, and a clipping of the caption as it was printed. A crop line runs down the center of the photograph with some paint applied by The Daily Telegraph Art Department to isolate Churchill from the background figures. London: Published by The Daily Telegraph, 29 March 1948. Photograph. This original press photograph shows a smiling Winston S. Churchill in late March 1948 looking down into the pram bearing his grandson while tickling the infants cheek. The silver gelatin press measures 11.5 x 7.5 in (29.25 x 19.05 cm). The condition is good plus, with edge wear, a closed tear to the top that intersects Churchills hat along with associated wrinkling and a small chip. There are small pieces missing to three corners of the photo and creasing to the upper and lower edges. Despite the wear and flaws, the image of Churchills countenance and hand are notably sharp and quite charmingly sentimental. Affixed to the verso is the clipped newspaper caption from original publication, the right edge of which is missing, making a word or two of each line difficult to determine. The photos each measure 8.5 x 12.5 inches. They are in good to very good condition with some light marks and fade spots. One has a photographer's mark on the back. All have a blind stamp for Rudolf Tamme. Each has a short caption under the print in German.
The folder is in fair condition. It has areas of sunning, especially at the bottom, and wear at the folds. It looks like it once hat a string tied around it, given the lines present. Having seen the wear on other folders like this though, and given the heft of the photos, I'd say it's held together quite well.

Wheeler & Son - these also mounted on the recto and verso of an oblong of grey card. - One unmounted collodion paper print is of the Waimangu Geyser, which is located near Rotorua, New Zealand.
