Tan morocco title label with gilt, lettering, ruling and leaves. Smaller label has "Oxford" within gilt ruling. Beige cloth on boards. Top edge gilt. Previous owners five line inscription from1919, written neatly in ink on front free endpaper. .A very good, bright copy.

A very good copy bound in early twentieth century half dark green morocco, spine with raised bands, gilt. Compartments decorated and lettered in gilt. Green cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Previous owners armorial bookplate to the front pastedown endpaper. A very good copy in a fine leather binding.

Creasing to the top outer corner of 20 leaves, otherwise a vary good copy in a fine early leather binding by Riviere and son. Half blue calf. Spine with raised bands, the compartments decorated and lettered in gilt. Blue cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. School arms and motto stamped in gilt to the front board and a school prize label, from Woodlands School in Deganwy in North Wales, to the front pastedown endpaper. A little rubbing to the extremities but overall a very good and attractive copy.

Francestown: Typographeum, 1997. Limited private press edition. First edition. Hardcover. Fine copy. 8vo. Bound by Francis Brown in quarter brown morocco with brown buckram sides. Marbled end-papers. T.e.g. One of 10 lettered copies hand-set and printed letterpress and signed by the author. Preserved in a slip-case. No dust-jacket as issued. Includes an essay about what it may have been like to be a printer in the 15th Century, and two more about important printers from that period: Nicolaus Jenson and Aldus Manutius. There is also a chapter of autobiography, about the author's first years in Francestown. Finally there is a reminiscence of a much loved bookseller, David Low.

This has been rebound with old hard-grain morroco under saved original spine and covers; the newer and older leathers are a near match; 'Bound by Zaehnsdorf, London England' stamped in gilt on the front cover turn-in at the tail edge appears to be on the newer leather. Covers and spine are clean, lightly scuffed; the original covers and spine have slight chipping at edges; light rubbing at cover fore corners; joints are supple; tightly bound; interior hinges are cloth; owner name in pencil on front fly leaf 'E Bunker'; clean interior; text pages very slightly age darkened at edges. 350 illustrations by author. Woodcut title vignettes (printer's device?), initials, and endpiece. Edited by Johann Erhard Kapp. Inscription in an old hand on one page of first part, and marginal notation on p. 110 of second part in same hand. Occasional mark in light blue or red pencil. In Near Fine Condition: vellum is slightly rubbed; marginalia, as described; otherwise clean and tight.
