Boston: Brown Taggard, & Chase, 1860. Hardcover. Very Good. 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall. 255pp. Stamped cloth, gilt lettering, folding map of Boston bound-in. Covers are faded and very lightly rubbed, text is age-toned and clean. Owner wrote many weather entries on memoranda pages. Folding map has slight edge stain and is in otherwise sound condition. Many ads and much information.

This antiquarian book is in fair condition. The binding is loose and coming apart and the cover is torn along the spine and the corners are worn. The pages inside the book are tanned and yellowed. One of the pages is loose. This book is not for reading or handling. First edition, large quarto; viii + 724pp. In original half leather binding, very worn, boards detached, spine backstrip missing, opening and closing leaves loose with marginal chipping and creasing without loss of text, text block otherwise sound with unobtrusive sporadic light staining and soiling only, complete with engraved portrait frontispiece, extra engraved title page and 16 full page engraved plates. Despite its tired condition, still a complete working copy of this early illustrated biography in first edition.

Edinburgh: Archibald Constable & Co Ltd, 1822. Fourth edition. Octavo, pp xx, 646, faintly marbled edges, rather strong age-toning on many pages, some foxing, but otherwise very tight and sound internally, marbled endpapers, contemporary half calf and marbled board, srubbed and slightly worn, spine with raised bands, upper joint beginning to wear. With the bookbinder's ticket of John Cain, the outspoken Manx preacher, on the front endpaper. [Not in Blanche Henrey, though the first three editions are; it would appear to be unchanged from the third edition of 1814.]. Half-Leather. Good.

This is a 5-volume lot of DICKENS' WORKS, published in 1900 by Peter Fenelon Collier & Son New York.
The original set was 30 volumes. A limited edition was leather-bound; the rest were bound in burgundy cloth.
This is five of the volumes of that set.
All are plain, with bright gilt printing on the side panels. Each book is 6" x 8".

Brown leather-like fabric bound cover with gilt embossed lettering, embossed cover detail, and 5 raised bands on spine; gold red and dark brown. This has a lot of shelf wear, front cover edges are rubbed and chipped. The spine has been rubbed and corners bumped. Spine is straight. Binding is tight. Red marbled end sheets and paste downs are clean and bright. Title page and index page have multiple creases and tears but the print is readable. Contents are in very good condition. Thumbed index tabs. Page edges have a lot of dust. All reference pages are clean and not marked
