Hardcovers, two-volume match set bound in full leather boards trimmed in gilt and ornately decorated on spine. Both volumes have the front and rear boards detached which, for some unknown reason, the Marquess of Bute tore the covers off of most of his collection. If the boards were attached these books are great as VG to VG-. Both volumes are complete, the leather shows scuffing along with edging corner bumps/wear. Spines show chipping along the edges along with some horizontal cracks. Both front pastedowns contains armorial color bookplate bearing the name Johannes Patricius Crichton Stuart Marchio de Bute in the rear pastedown contains a black-and-white bookplate showing this came from the personal library at Cardiff Castle of Wales. Both front and rear bookplates contain the family crests. The internal binding and condition of the pages is very good and binding is tight.… Leer más

No binder's ticket, but appears to be a contemporary custom rebinding: blue leather spine and corners over blue cloth, gilt titles and rules, top edge gilt, new end sheets. "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is the traditional name for the unfinished record of his own life written by Benjamin Franklin from 1771 to 1790; however, Franklin himself appears to have called the work his Memoirs. Although it had a tortuous publication history after Franklin's death, this work has become one of the most famous and influential examples of an autobiography ever written. Franklin's account of his life is divided into four parts, reflecting the different periods at which he wrote them.

Ikebana Arranging Images; Kamata, Soseke, 1950's. A nice publication given to Julia Jane Jeffers Dodge while here husband was helping Japan recover after the war. Her husband Joseph Morrell Dodge had a long and distinguished career and tried to help reform Europe but later wound up as financial advisor to Douglas MacArthur in the economic revitalization of Japan. This edition is in very good condition internally. Photos of Ikebana arrangements by the famous Japan Ikebana master. A gift given to Julia Jeffers Dodge and placed in her library. 38 single sided (double page but other side blank) on high quality Japan paper with photo examples of Ikebana, black and white. A rare publication.

Brown leather boards with gold writing and images and raised bands on spine; embossed image of planet, sky, and tree in gold on front and back board. Novel not issued with dust jacket. Top corner of back board shows slight wear; top edges of pages show some spotting (see pic). This is a special Collector's Edition Easton Press printing (with white bookmark) bound in leather, illustrated by Bob Eggleton with an introduction by Charles Sheffield. Niven and Pournelle's classic science-fiction tale in a Very Fine copy. Hardcover, but no dust jacket, so novel cannot be protected by archival Mylar cover.
