Forrest (1883-1969) was an author, newspaper reporter, cowboy, and photographer from Washington County, Pa. Although he spent most of his working life there, he made a number of trips to the West, specifically to Arizona and Montana, which he documented in photographs and books. This work presents the complete history of the companies of cavalry recruited from Washington County, Pa., during the Civil War. Includes regimental rosters.
