T.e.g. One of 10 lettered copies hand-set and printed letterpress and signed by the author. Preserved in a slip-case. No dust-jacket as issued. Includes an essay about what it may have been like to be a printer in the 15th Century, and two more about important printers from that period: Nicolaus Jenson and Aldus Manutius. There is also a chapter of autobiography, about the author's first years in Francestown. Finally there is a reminiscence of a much loved bookseller, David Low.

Woodcut title vignettes (printer's device?), initials, and endpiece. Edited by Johann Erhard Kapp. Inscription in an old hand on one page of first part, and marginal notation on p. 110 of second part in same hand. Occasional mark in light blue or red pencil. In Near Fine Condition: vellum is slightly rubbed; marginalia, as described; otherwise clean and tight.

Full dark blue levant morocco bindings with fancy gilt turn ins, full bright gilt edges, decorative spine with gilt lozenge design, red leather labels in compartments between raised bands and bound by Holloway. Bookplate on endpaper. Minor brown blemishes to the colour plates and on the pages opposite. Wear to the joints on v.2, front joint is cracked down to the first compartment, otherwise are tender, covers are lightly rubbed with scattered dark blemishes and minor wear to the gilt edges, top corners on both volumes are slightly chipped and bumped. Otherwise both volumes are both firmly bound and in very good condition. 504 & 643 pp. .

London: Longmans, Green & Co, 1900. No dustwrapper, some bumping and minor shelf-wear to spine ends and corners of blue cloth-covered boards, binding just starting to split at the page between the black free front endpaper and the half-title, which has a previous owner's name in pencil. Minor foxing to outer pages, otherwise a good clean tight copy, with gilt titles on spine and front board all still bright, of this hard-cover book. A tale of revolution in a (fictitious) Mediterranean country, this was Churchill's only novel. This is the first UK edition, one of 1500 copies, published by Longman, Green & Co on 30th January 1900 (a larger [4000 copies] edition was published earlier in the US in November 1899). 345pp, 2pp adverts.. Scarce volume from the 6-volume "DICKENS' LITTLE FOLKS" series which was "undertaken with a view of supplying the want of a class of books for children, of a vigorous, manly tone, combined with a plain and concise mode of narration." "With this view, the career of [Little Paul has] been detached from the large mass of matter with which [he was] originally connected, and presented, in the author's own language, to a new class of readers, to whom the little volumes will, we doubt not, be as attractive as the larger originals have so long proved to the general public."Condition:Clean covers and spine with no stains; 1" cloth tear at the top-right corner of the spine; horizontal crease across the front cover which is also visible on the opposite side of the board. Leopold B. Hill. London. No date. circa 1910. Small 8vo. (3.5 x 2.4 inches). Finely bound in early twentieth century leather binding by Sangorski & Sutcliffe of London. Full red calf. Spine decorated with gilt ruled lines, floral and bell centre pieces, lettering and gilt piping. Gilt ruled line border on both boards with a gilt stamped device showing two bells to the front board. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. A hint of rubbing to the edges and a few light spots to the front board but still overall a near fine, attractive copy.

New York: D. Appleton & Co. 1856. (Hardcover) 315, 326pp. Very good. Finely bound in tan morocco, gilt tooled borders, gilt tooled spine in six compartments with leather labels, tooled edges and inner dentelles. Marbled edges and endpapers, index.
