No dust jacket. Good condition.Size: 8 3/8"x 5 3/4" (21cm x 14.5cm). This is a "romantic-realist" work of fiction by Canadian author Hugh MacLennan. One of his earliest works, it depicts life in Halifax, Nova Scotia, during the First World War and the catastrophic events of the Halifax Explosion. It is considered a pivotal work in the history of Canadian fiction.

The author's real name is Sarah Chauncey Woolsey. Susan Coolidge was a pseudynom and this was her first book. She became well known for the Katy books.
