Based on my research, here is what I have learned: Josef Breitbach was born in Germany in 1903. From 1925 to 1928, he worked at a book dealer "Landauer" in Augsburg. While there, he developed relationships with the Communist Party. In 1928, he wrote and published this book, Rot Gegen Rot (Red Against Red), and was fired from his job in Germany because of the book. Josef wasn't popular with the German government either, and moved to France in 1929. While there, he published his next book in 1932, and the Germans banned his books in 1933. All in all, more than 4100 publications were banned by the Germans, but even on the short lists, Rot Gegen Rot is always one of the prominent books listed. F. Ferroud, Paris, France, 1917. Softcover. Very Good Condition. There were 1062 copies of this Limited Edition printed in all, but only 30 copies were top-of-the-line, and this is copy # 3. It is printed on Japan imperial paper or tinted vellum. There are many etchings in the book, and this copy contains 3 versions of each. Some of the etchings also have a fourth etching, which is a colored sketch from Georges Rochegrosse. There are some wrinkles on the spine, and minimal shelfwear, but the book remains in remarkable condition. Text entirely in French. Wycliffe Bible Translators, 1979. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine Condition/No Dust Jacket. This New Testament is written in the Amuesha language. At the time of its publication, there were only about 4500 speakers of the language in the world, and those lived in the foothills of the Andes mountains in Peru. This is a First Edition of that Bible, and it represented Wycliffe's 100th language translation. Prior to its pubilcation, Amuesha was purely an oral language, and the translators had to develop a written language first, including a new character set (similar to Spanish, but with several distinguishing characters). Includes a fold-out 23" x 18" color "Map of the State of Texas showing the Line and Lands of the Texas Pacific Railway, Reserved and Donated by the State of Texas". This map is dated 1873, and also shows the population of each Texas county. At that time, Washington County was the most populous Texas county with 23,104! There is also a Table of Distances on the map. The map is in excellent condition, except for one small (1") tear along one of the folds at the bottom. Fresso i Fratelli Masi e Compagno, Bologna, Italy, 1808. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair Condition. This is a very rare book on Napoleon, written 8 years prior to Waterloo. I have only found 5 copies in libraries worldwide. Size: 4mo - over 9 3/4" - 12" tall. Text is in Italian. About 1/3 of the spine has been chipped away at the top, and the outer paper cover is gone from most of the rest of it. Both hinges are cracked about the same distance along the top of the spine. Lord Baltimore's trial was from 1768, Jane Butterfield's from 1775, the Duchess of Kingston's from 1776, and Major Browne's from 1788. Several pages are wrinkled, and the title page on Calvert's trial is detached and damaged. Front board is fully detached, and back board is about halfway there. Several chips out of the spine.
