Background: The Jackson Automotive Company was known for its extraordinarily well built cars; particularly, their luxury models built in 1914 with the Jackson Imperial at $1885.00 being their largest and most expensive and while sales were made all across the Eastern United States, the New York sales division was where the greatest number of sales took place. Earlier their focus was on racing cars and in 1908 the Jackson entry led at the Indianapolis 500 which was stopped at 235 miles due to poor track conditions and a deadly wreck; therefore, the organizers refused to declare a winner. After entering three race cars in the 1911 Indianapolis 500 they moved to emphasizing beautiful cars instead of the racing variety and at one time had 500 works producing 2,000 cars a year before the assembly line concept was introduced. Original Public Opinion Journal Complete RARE Huge Set Collection of 1887 to 1906 38 Volumes in 33 Bindings made up of 988 weekly journals, over 35,000 pages, over 400 pounds. Condition: Good to Fine, most in Very Good, #3 through #29 are half leather and paper or half leather and buckram, #30 through #40 are dark green cloth bound. Some of the leather volumes have spine cracks, hinge surface cracks, 4 volumes have hinge repair, #3 through #18 are of a dark red leather binding, all leather treated with Klucel G consolidate. volumes 21 to 40 are exlibrary and have gilt lettering of library on spine cover and some stamps inside those, some have loose weekly title pages, 9.5 x 12.5 tall. Hughes in blue ink; rear cover is bright and clean but for few small, light coffee stains and very slight age darkening at tail edge; tightly bound; bright, clean interior; rear pocket is intact with three color reproductions of the bridge in Fine condition. Gottingen, Germany : Gottinger Automobil - Club, 1927. RARE TLS from Ernst H. Diepholz, Generalvertreter fur Deutschland, B.S.A Motor Bicycles, under his company letterhead, dated 24th Nov., 1927, to British motorcycle racer R.E. Atkinson. Herr Diepholz begins the letter by congratulating Atkinson on his win at that year's Hainberg Rennen ( Atkinson was the winner of the Class B 350ccm race). He then goes on to inform him that B.S.A. is sending him "some spares for your machine free of charge". And concludes by offering to give Atkinson "a special 350 ccm BSA Super Sport motorcycle" should he be willing to enter "the Grand Prix of Europe for motorcycles (which) takes place on the Nurnberg Ring near Cologne on the 2nd or 3rd of July". Those races in 1928 would have marked the 2nd year of racing at Nurburgring ( if they were held- I am unable to find any information on motorcycle races winners, etc.). Elmer George, Tommy Hinnershitz, Ed Elisian , and Joe Barzda, with 2 more signatures too faint for me to decipher. SIGNED in ink front cover by Foyt, George, Sachs, and Hinnershitz, in pencil ( right margin) by Barzda, at rear cover in ink by Ed Elisian, and at his photo on page 7 in ink again by George. A.J. Foyt- the first 4-time winner of the Indy 500, a true racing legend. Original manual, not a facsimile. Black front cover with photo of 330 GT, red rear cover, no title to spine. Interior of front cover is red with Ferrari logo near hinge, title page specifies "300/GT 1965", and "modifications introduced in respect of the 1964- 330/GT". Five pages of modifications, followed by 1965 330/GT operation guide.
