Standring was typical of many pilots who fought the Battle of Britain. The three items herein presented composite to a brief tale of a young fellow caught up in the hurricane of history. In item (1) we see Standring was issued his Driver's Certificate from the Royal Automobile Club - Pall Mall - in December 1932. His photo accompanies this document. 1926 - 1941 Imprinted cloth with clasp closures. 12mo. An unusual archive of one pilot's career from the Golden Age of Flight to the American entrance into the Second World War. Ensign Burdick joined the U.S. Naval Reserve as a Mechanic / Pilot in 1926. The following 15 years of his flying career are documented here in his Flight Log Books. Recounted are his notations of soloing, flying mail, machine deliveries, target towing, photographic, radio and armament training, torpedo recovery, crashes, cross-country flights, aircraft carrier take-off and landings and much more. Notations of machines flown include - N-9, NY-2, OL -6, OL-8, PS-3, PN-12, S-38, S-39, S-43, V-70 and many others. Flights in all areas of the U.S.A. are recorded as well as periods in Spain, Mexico, etc. Burdick also flew for the Sikorsky Corp. and many log pages bear their stamp. Cubberley, about whom we can find no additional information. Original poster for an exhibition of naval aircraft at Philadelphia's Commercial Museum in 1919. Various aircraft are depicted in flight. Possibly done in-house for the museum, we have only seen or heard of one other example (on blue paper), and presume it to be rare.

Printed in a limited but unspecified number (this is copy no. 155) Signed by Lindbergh. This copy additionally inscribed to "Lucile Wright from the Royal Swedish Aero Club in appreciation of her contribution to aviation. Stockholm, 6.9.1957, Nils Stirnberg." Lucile M. Wright was a famous American woman aviator, one of the original Ninety-Nines (pioneer women aviatrixes, as assembled by Amelia Earhart in 1929), and the Lucile M. Wright Air Museum in Jamestown, New York is named after her. This book, an account of the first solo nonstop flight between the United States and Europe in 1927, won for Lindbergh the 1954 Pulitzer Prize for Autobiography. This is the only limited, signed edition published outside the United States.

The December 1944, Original "Brown Cover" issue. Profusely illustrated with photographs, drawings, maps, diagrams, charts, etc. During its time, the Lockheed P-38 Lightning was considered the most sophisticated aircraft Lockheed had ever built. In February 1937, the U.S. Army Air Corps released Specification X-608, a daunting requirement that called for speed, range, and climb capabilities impossible to achieve at that time with a single-engine aircraft. In Burbank, California, a Lockheed design team led by Hall Hibbard, and assisted by a young engineer named Clarence "Kelly" Johnson, immediately began a series of designs that would culminate in the contract-winning XP-38. Light stains on the wrappers, one leaf has pulled loose, else near fine. Trade catalog for nautical, ground, and aviation searchlights. On the rectos of each leaf is a large photograph in color of a searchlight (on a few pages two photographs appear; one photo is uncolored) with a printed description of the searchlight on the facing page. Colorful and engaging. Rare. *OCLC* locates a single copy at the Henry Ford Museum, that is almost certainly the same or similar to this with 19 pages (we assume they mean leaves) and attributes the date of 1920. Although this copy is undated that seems a reasonable guess.

The story of the Lear Jet written by the widow of the founder in a personal, autobiographical manner. Of a total edition of 5000 copies, there were 26 lettered and signed copies and 20 Presentation copies given to the signers. This is Copy Z of the 26 lettered copies. It is SIGNED by the author, Moya Lear, with a pasted in signature of William Lear on a special page, and on the half-title page it is SIGNED by the first two men to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, President Gerald Ford, and test pilots Clay Long and Hank Beaird, who was the first Lear Jet pilot. In addition to creating the Lear Jet, William Lear also developed in 1930 the first working car radio, the rights which he sold to a company later called Motorola. Marks from stamp, some toning and spotting of the verso, creasing and wear, particularly near the original folds (which are fragile) and at the corners and slightly affecting the image, small tape repair to one corner on the verso. Complete bound Volume 1 (Numbers 1-12) of Popular Flying, preserving the original covers. Edited by W.E Johns, with significant contributions including illustrations and writing by him. Includes the first appearance of Biggles in the story "The White Fokker" (as well as a further short story as 'William Earle'). A total of 10 of these 12 issues contain Biggles stories, the early stories under the pen-name "William Earle". Very Good condition internally (protected by the binding), with bumping to lower corners of pages, and early cracking to front hinge. Externally, there is significant scraping to the boards and chipping/discolouration to the spine label. It is most uncommon for bound volumes to preserve the glorious original covers of these magazines.William Earl Johns (5 February 1893 – 21 June 1968) was an English pilot and writer of adventure stories, usually written under the pen name Captain W. E. Johns. He is best remembered as the creator of the ace pilot and adventurer Biggles.

SIGNED ON FRONT COVER BY EARHART, GORDON, and STULTZ. 7.5 x 5.25" oblong cord-tied paperwraps with illustration of the soaring "Friendship" in red on front; 16 pages plus covers. The text covers Stultz's life and accomplishments in aviation and features black-and-white photographs including one of Amelia Earhart in flight gear on page 4.
