Akino Fuku (1908-2001) first gained notoriety before World War II as a prizewinning female artist, a rarity in the hoary Nihonga tradition. However, the work for which she is best known came later in life, after she was invited at age 53 to teach Nihonga at a university in India.

Imprenta Glorias is the imprint of film and television actress Gloria Stuart (Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, 1938; My Favorite Year, 1982; Titanic, 1997). In 1983, when she was in her seventies, the master printer Ward Ritchie taught her to print. Stuart started a fresh career as a respected designer of hand-printed artists’ books and broadsides. Letter, 1990. Letter. Very Good. Unmarked. Signed letter from the artist Gordon Onslow Ford (1912-2003) to writer/artist Amy Ione in response to an article about his work. Folded into four panels. Includes comments on his view of art theories. British-born painter Gordon Onslow Ford was the youngest and last surviving member of the original Surrealist artistic group, led by the poet André Breton. Also included in the group were Matta, Joan Miro, Marcel Duchamp, Yves Tanguy, Jean Arp, and Salvador Dali.
