Signed and limited edition artist book, numbered 20 from an edition of 30 that were issued with an original, separately signed collage of the concrete poetry artist's work. (150 were in the edition issued without an original collage) Die cut pages, in the shape of a coffin or piano are softbound with black paper covers with blind stamped title. Unpaginated with no text, other than the images that are composed of collages of printed text. Book is in excellent, fine condition. Original collage is composed of many strips of pages from a book has been mounted by the artist in a non-archival mat that is yellowing at the edges and inside the window. The collage is signed and dated by the artist lightly in pencil beneath the center of the window of the mat. Both book and matted collage are wrapped in a thin black paper case that shows some wear consistent with age, but no tears or losses..

Bound in pale green paper covered boards with white text, the binding is in excellent, nearly new condition, save for some rubbing to the boards from shelving and barely perceptible sunning to the spine that is now an elegant gray rather than pale green..

Slight inherent crimping at the crown of the spine, with a small degree of tanning consistent with age. But for that, the binding is tight, the edges sharp, the spine uncreased, and the interior clean and free of markings. 60 black and white illustrations of both drawings and sculptures. Leather Bound. 12 individually published copies of the landmark magazine of late 19th century French art and literature, handsomely bound into one volume with green leather, with 5 raised bands on the spine, gold stamping, and marblized endpapers. Some rubbing to the corners and a few of the bands on the spine. Three pages in the first issue have two-inch tears at the edges. Else, all issues appear to be intact and in fine condition with only the expected light browning to the pages associated with age. The cover of the October issue (number 11) is designed by Henri de Toulouse Lautrec. Texts in French, with numerous illustrations, beautifully printed..

Originally published in 1966 as is stated on the title page, this is one of an unnumbered second printing of 5,000 copies printed in 1970. [INSCRIBED BY THE ARTIST] in ink on the inside front cover: "To Mary Ann / Cheers / Ed Ruscha." There is vertical creasing to the spine, with some light soiling. The white paper bellyband that was present at first issue is missing. There are some cracks and separations at the joints of the silver Mylar covered cardboard slipcase at the opening, and the Mylar is worn and slightly lifting along the edges. Still, the edges and corners of the book are sharp, and aside from the aforementioned artist's inscription, the interior is clean and free of markings. Softbound in white printed stiff paper, this 7 x 5 5/8 inch book opens out accordion-style into a 296 5/8 continuous sheet of pasted and folded sheets of black and white photographic images… Leer más

Beautifully printed reproductions, each on a separate sheet, of 21 sketches by the Eskimo native, collected at the turn of the 20th century by Robert Flaherty. Cased in a cloth covered clamshell box with separately printed sewn wrapper commentary by the esteemed anthropologist Edmund Carpneter nearly a century later. Only two copies of the original 1915 book are known to exist. This facsimile copy is an unnumbered copy from an edition of 200. Drawings by the Eskimo at this time were exceptionally rare, and the harsh weather of the region isolated the native peoples from the art traditions of the world. But these minute, spare, and sensitive renditions of a life lived closely tied to nature, the walrus, the caribou, the hunt. Western Photography Guild, 1955. Photographic Image. Very Good. No Binding. Twelve 4 x 5 vintage sepia toned gelatin silver photographs from two different sessions, one inside and the other out. There is a slight waviness to the paper of each photograph, consistent with age. Else, they are in fine condition. None are signed, but each are stamped on the back: "Western Photography Guild / Box 2801 - Denver 1, Colorado" and additionally stamped in sequence from 55-1 through 55-12. It is presumed, but not known for certain that "55" refers to the year of the images. (in my images of the backs of the photographs, there is no black line around the edges.) All twelve images from both sessions feature the same two handsome nude bodybuilders. One sequence is in a studio, while the other is shot on the rocks of the mountains surrounding Denver, where Don Whitman and his Western Photography Guild were based.
