With a large signed original detailed ink drawing by Borein of two cowboys on horseback, inscribed to Frank E. Bliss and dated 1927. Most original drawings by Borein in books tend to be much less detailed and smaller.

The book is in excellent shape and is bound in the publisher's cloth. The binding is tight with NO cocking or leaning and the boards are crisp. It has one neat original bookplate of the previous owner. Otherwise the pages and book overall is clean with no writing or marks. An uncommonly nice-looking copy of a justifiably famous collection of four stories, illustrated profusely, including at endpapers, by Wesley Dennis in a four-color offset lithography process. The Panoramic, sweeping illustration at endpapers is breathtaking. Housed in a clean, Good condition cardboard slipcase, illustrated paper label complete and neatly affixed. One errata leaf printed on red paper stock bound in. Cont. dark green morocco, gilt stamped Russian title to front cover, all edges gilt. Endpapers lined with white glazed paper with a moiree pattern. Oblong folio (495 x 400 mm). Extremeties worn and rubbed, front cover discoloured, spine evenly sunned and spine-ends bumped. Rare large-format work with magnificent depictions of horses with KVK and OCKC showing only four copies (ÖNB, Madrid, NYPL, and Chicago) with 31 plates only (?). A number of the thin letterpress leaves with short tears else fine. The author was a master of the guard.

Complete series of 6 prospective copperplates engravings (each plate measures ca. mm 200x165) with strictly contemporary hand colouring. Very nice condition.
They scenery-like sheets create a perspective image if arranged one behind the other.
Appreciated by spectators attending from balconies, the view exhibits an extraordinary street circus with various animals: an elephant, bears, savants dogs playing comedies, acrobatic monkeys, etc.; trainers wear sumptuous oriental costumes.
