A handsome first edition/first Impression in Fine condition in alike, crisp dust-jacket without fading, vibrant and bright colors. Variant copy with printer's quad mark on the title page; Central character and narrator is "Vivienne Michel, " a young Canadian woman who ends up running a cheap motel in the Adirondack Mountains to pay for a trip through America. When issued, it was banned in some countries as the most sexually explicit of Fleming's novels. Basis for the movie with Roger Moore in his third James Bond role, Barbara Bach as Major Anya Amasova (Agent Triple X) and Curd Jürgens as Karl Stromberg; 8vo ; [10], 11-221, [3] pages .

In a Good first issue dust jacket with price of $3.25 intact, edge worn, spine toned and staining more visible at the verso. First printings of this Newbery winner are uncommon.

Signed by author as Richard Hooker on the title page with quote marks around his name; Richard Hooker is the pseudonym of Dr. Hiester Richard Hornberger Jr. Near Fine, with light edge wear, toning to spine ends, small evidence of tape removal to recto of half-title page, hinge at title page over-opened. In a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket, with light shelf wear and toning. A laid-in note in a former owner's hand reads, "Dr. Hornberger autographed this book as "Richard Hooker" while still employed as a doctor at Thayer Hospital in Waterville, Maine." Signed copies are scarce.

Presentation copy signed by Rockwell Kent on the front free end paper of Volume I, "Inscribed with affectionate friendship to Putzie - Rockwell Kent, 1950." Volumes II and III bear Rockwell Kent-illustrated bookplates of Marie Luise Hinrichs. Near Fine. Narrow strips of sunning to spine cloth at ends, light rubbing to cloth at extremities and light abrasions to black topstains. Pages toned and with offsetting from illustrations. Acetate wrappers are wrinkled and shrunken with age, as is typical, and show a bit of chipping and edge wear, with some separation starting between the acetate and a paper flap on both volumes II and III; acetate on volume II with light staining. The first appearance of this novella about a revolt on a Spanish slave ship captained by Don Benito Cereno, appearing in the magazine in three installments on pages 353-367, 459-471, and 633-644. Acknowledged as one of Melville's greatest achievements, it was included with some revisions in his short story collection "The Piazza Tales" published May 1856. Very Good indeed, bound in contemporary quarter calf over marbled boards, five raised bands with dark brown calf volume label in gilt, title label missing, marbled end papers and edges. The complete six monthly magazines with title pages, well bound and lacking only the original wrappers. Moderate toning to end papers only, interior pages clean and with no foxing or toning. Quite uncommon, especially so in collectible condition. This is the very scarce 1st UK edition; although not the true first (the US was published shortly beforehand), the UK is super rare to find in collectible condition, particularly in the ORIGINAL jacket with no restoration or repair; a truly unique item and a must for the 20th century mystery collector! This novel is on the Modern Library list of 100 greatest novels and is the basis for many film and screen adaptations. This copy is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, clean yellow boards with bold black lettering, and crisp, off-white to white pages; age spotting is present to the exterior text block and free papers and only light shelf wear to the board edges, else fine. This is a 7th printing of the 1st edition by Chilton Book Company from 1965. There were nine such printings of that 1st edition. The book is in Fine Condition. The dustjacket is in Good Condition with slight edge wear and the price clipped from the upper corner. Frank Herbert has autographed the title page. FIRST EDITIONS and First printings of all volumes in this collected edition. --- Volume 1, Brighton Rock, is inscribed and signed by Graham Greene on the front free endpaper; - "For Doctor A. D. Thomson from Graham Greene." Publishers dark green cloth bindings with gilt ruling and lettering to the spines and grey endpapers. A fine set of books in very good dustwrappers, designed by Michael Harvey with some toning to the spines and a small amount of rubbing to extremities. Some volumes have a neat previous owner name on the front free endpaper and four of the wrappers nave been neatly price-clipped. A very good set with the added bonus of Greene's signature and inscription in Brighton Rock. The dedicatee is Nina Froud who was a personal friend of the author and worked at his literary agency. The first book in the Paddington series where one of the most iconic and beloved British fictional characters first appeared, later going on to form the basis of several ongoing TV and successful film adaptations. Publisher's original red cloth with silver lettering to spine containing illustrations by Peggy Fortnum. A beautiful, fine and pristine book throughout, save for a touch of off-setting to endpapers. Appears unread. The original complete dust jacket is not price-clipped and is in unusually superior condition with a chip to spine head - not affecting any lettering - and a closed tear to top of upper panel fore-edge with a couple of tiny and inconspicuous nicks to the top edge of lower panel. Gerald Howe Ltd. London. 1934. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.6 x 5.2 inches). 27 line illustrations by Mary Shepard. One small, faint mark to the title page otherwise a near fine copy which is bright and clean throughout. Publishers yellow cloth with black lettering to the spine and front board, which also has an illustration of Mary Poppins. Illustrated endpapers. In the original illustrated grey dustwrapper which is split in two but is currently held together in a removable wrapper protector. There is some loss to the top and bottom of the spine and a large closed tear to the front panel with a small amount of loss. Small and neat booksellers label (Zeitlin Books of Los Angeles) to the rear pastedown endpaper. Overall a near fine book, with a little bumping to the top of the spine, in a good example of the scarce dustwrapper that is quite clean and more then 95% complete, so could easily be restored to it's former glory.
