Altogether, 577 tropical fish species are featured with information about the physical distinctions, coloration, distribution, and life history of each species. There are 700 wash drawings by artist-illustrator Steven Gigliotti that illustrate family characteristics, such as body shape, fin size, and teeth and gill placement.
