Rinehart & Company, 1939. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good Dust Jacket. This old book with dust jacket is clean, solid and in great shape! This is a hardcover book with 283 pages including many illustrations. The binding is strong with all pages firmly attached. There is a bookplate on the inside cover and some writing on the top of the first end paper. The pages are otherwise clean with no tears. The copyright page shows 1939 as the published date. The dust jacket shows some general edgewear and light soiling (No Chips). I have placed the DJ in a fresh mylar jacket and this old book looks and feels great! We always ship in a sturdy cardboard box!

'Fourth large printing on dj front flap and 'War Edition' on copyright page. 1939 still on copyright page but I am guessing this war edition is about 1943. Printed on thinner paper than the 1939 1st printing so it is a muck thinner book, but contains all 294 ages of the original text and illustrations, does not include 'Rivers and American Folk' by Constance Lindsay Skinner, which was included in the 1st printing. Condition is VERY GOOD+ ; looks new on all points. Binding tight and text unmarked. Dust jacket is Fair, almost all there, but front cover and flap are detached from spine, rear cover, and rear flap' spine faded and worn with some tears, price-clipped. Stax.

The dust jacket shows loss from the head and foot of the spine, small instances of loss along the extremities with some short closed tears, otherwise is not price-clipped remaining bright, colorful, and distinct. As pictured.

There is a liquid stain on the top edge of the pages that seeps in some as it progresses towards the last pages. No dust jacket and the covers have frayed edges and corners.
