A popular novel by award-winning American author Esther Forbes (1891–1967), written like an authentic chronicle, concerning the life of Doll Bilby, a young girl accused of being a witch in 17th century New England. Illustrated by Robert Gibbings (1889-1958), an Irish artist and author, notable for his wood engravings and sculptures, and for his books on travel and natural history. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a little offsetting to the paste downs and end papers, and spotting to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. Many pages uncut. Very Good Indeed
