No dust jacket. Despite the flaws a solid copy.

NOT a reprint by G&D or Barnes, this is the true First Edition. 100 photographs by Grey. Photographic endpapers. Black cloth with titles in gilt. Large quarto. Corners bumped, covers a bit loose, spine ends abraded. Price reflects modest near-collectible condition.

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1928. Cloth. Very Good +/Very Good -. A perfectly serviceable copy of the 1928 Grosset & Dunlap re-issue, in its pictorial dustjacket. Solid and VG+ (light sunning to the spine crown) in a crisp, VG- dustjacket, with substantial chipping along the spine (with roughly 25% loss) and one 2" x 2" chip at the front panel's lower-edge. Still though, attractive and presentable. Quarto, wonderful sepia-toned photographs thruout by Zane Grey himself.

Hard Cover. First (Stated). Some mars on front cover, edgewear to foredge of covers, chip out of spine, foxing on and opposite of book's B&W plates. No writing or foxing otherwise. Straight, tight book.

This lovely, bright, tight early (not first) printing features a choice autograph addition: Neatly tipped to inner flyleaf is a Partly-Printed Document Signed from Grey, 1p, 8" X 3", Altadena, CA, 16 December 1936. Very good. Light original folds; perforation cancellation. Personal check drawn on The Altadena National Bank, filled out entirely by Grey in his usual purple ink and made out to Los Angeles Envelope Co. for $25.00, signed boldly at lower right. Lacks dust jacket, else a handsome copy and bearing nice Grey document.
