Binding and hinges tight and square; contents clean and unmarked except for book plates on front paste downs. No dust jackets; gilt top page edge. Each book about 8x 5.5". Fading on lettering on paper on some spines and shelf wear; some bumped or worn corners; webbing showing at FFEP on Volume I. Dates published 1884-1886. All items carefully packed to avoid damage from moisture and rough handling.

The books in this 5 Volume set are hall hard-bound in fine bindings of 1/2 blue crushed morocco leather with marbled paper covered boards, with gilt stamping and raised bands on the spines, done by Root & Son, and signed at the top of the front free end-page. The cover show a few small scuffs to the joints and corners, and light toning to the spines. The bindings are solid. The contents are bright and clean. .
