Blue, gilt-embossed publishers blue cloth. Top edge gilt. xix, 228 pp +10 pp appendices. Illustrated with numerous engravings within the text. An extremely early study. Uses an old-fashioned typeface with f-like s letters in the middle of words. Although the condition is somewhat less than perfect, still this books can be difficult to locate. Please note that this is an original printed copy, and not an e-book, facsimile paperback, or print-on-demand title.

Bernard Quaritch, 1865 8vo hardback with no jacket, illustrations, (228pp), top and bottom of spine and corners bumped, cloth to top and bottom of spine chipped with some loss to the top, some soiling to the boards, crack to inner hinge but holding firm, some spotting to front and rear end papers, internally clean, overall a good reading copy.. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket.
