T.Y. Crowell Co. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Undated, c1913. In a gorgeous full leather, two-tone binding with intricate gold gilt to the boards and spine. With 8 tipped-in colour plates. The boards are a touch rubbed but otherwise strong and sturdy. Internally, the pages are unpaginated, and there is some very mild rippling to the front end page. Ornate gilt titles to spine. Top edge gilt. Decorated endpapers. Lavishly illustrated. 8 tipped-in four-colour plates. Numerous other colour illustrations, some full-page, ornamentation and decoration throughout. Beautifully designed and executed. No jacket. Illustrations and decorations by Willy Pogany Near fine condition. Very slight rubbing to lower edges of boards towards the corners. Slight cracking to upper reaches of front hinge. Text block very sound and everything is firmly in place. Small and faint ink marks to Part III title page, which appear to be a minor production fault rather than later marking. A couple of pages have some small and faint soil marks. Free of inscriptions. A lovely, bright copy of what is arguably one of Pogany's most creative works.

London: G. G. Harrap & Co, 1913. Limited edition. Hardcover. Near fine. Illustrated by Williy Pogany. 4to. Illustrated throughout in both black and white and color by Pogany. This copy bound in the somewhat scarce publisher's brown leather, spine intricately gilt and with the title and illustration on the upper board, as in the more common vellum and morocco bindings. Illustrated endpapers. Top edge gilt. Light wear to the inner hinges else this is a fine copy with only a trace of sunning to the spine. One of 525 copies signed by Pogany, of which this is number 272. Lohengrin comes to us courtesy of Wolfram von Eschenbach, where is is described as the son of Sir Perceval (Parzifal). When Parzifal becomes the Grail King, Lohengrin becomes the Grail Knight, and his twin inherits Parzifal's secular lands. .

A near fine copy, the binding firm, the boards only very slightly bowed.
