Contemporary half dark blue calf, spines gilt extra in 4 compartments with two crimson lettering pieces, gilt Admiralty crest to upper covers and Admiralty prize label to endpapers. All edges marbled. Small nick to one lettering piece. A handsome binding in excellent condition. The binding by Thomas de la Rue & Co. London, with their ticket.

In very good conditions. Presentation bindings. Some minor rubbing and handling marks to cloth on boards, spine labels faded on vols 1-3. Some minor rubbing to corners. Presentation bookplates to endpapers "Presented by The Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, to A.A. Duff, for Meritorious Work. Summer 1935." Inside pages all very clean and tight, plates all clean and bright. A couple of small minor light foxing spots to some pages edges (mostly nr small gaps by maps.) Published in 5 text volumes with plans and maps (many in color) in 4 separate cases (Over 40 maps in one volume) at intervals between 1920-1931. Vols 1-4 ex-lib. Vols 1 spine taped and Vol 5 clean no markings. They provide an essential and invaluable source for the further research of the entire naval war in all the parts of the world. NOTE: Plans 4 and 5 missing from Vol 2. Plans 1-3 missng in Vol 3 map book, Map 9 missing from Vol 4 mapbook. All other maps appear to be present and undamaged. Remaining volumes are bright and clean. Most have previous owner bookplates inside front cover. Text is clean. Hard to find in clean condition.. 1st Edition. Cloth.
