University of Minnesota, 1956. Hardcover. Good/No jacket. The cover is shelf worn and rubbed, particularly on the bottom and top edges, including the spine. The inside front and back cover are foxed. Binding is tight and pages are clean and bright.

This book is in good condition. The previous owner has him name, an architect, written a couple of times in the front and in the back of the book, from 1957. The last blank page has a tear. Cover shows minor signs of shelf/edge wear. Text is clean and plates are good. 1956. Ships within 24 hours.

A beautifully executed portait of Chicago School architect Louis Sullivan, often referred to as the "father of moderism" and of skyscrapers. The photographs are by Szarkowski, who gained later renown as director of photography at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The images are as memorable for their depiction of the streets of Chicago as they are for documenting Sullivan's architecture. 164 pages with numerous B&W photos.
Very good copy with a fair dust jacket. End papers are stained, bottom corners slightly bumped, light rubbing along cover edges. Binding is firm and inside pages are flawless. DJ has significant rubbing, tears and chips along edges and spine. Included is a staple-bound reprint of the Henry R. Hope article "Louis Sullivan's Architectural Ornament" from a 1947 issue of Magazine of Art. See images for a better view of condition.
