London: Peter Davies, 1952. A first edition, first printing publised by Peter Davies in 1952. The penultimate work by Scottish author Gordon Daviot/Josephine Tey, a fictionalised reconstruction of the life of the privateer Henry Morgan, written in the last year of the author's life. A very good book, no inscriptions with the page edges age tanned slightly. Small blue and gold sticker for the Presbyterian Bookshop Melbourne at base of front paste down. A near complete very good dust jacket, price-clipped with some bumping on the corners. small stitches of transparent tape repair on reverse of the jacket. Some rubbing to front cover. Back cover has lavish praise for The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey. A subtle acknowledgement to, but with no definitive mention of this being the same author.
