Ken Danby, 1956. No Binding. Very Good. About the painting. Oil on board. Without the frame, painting measures approximately 21 x 24 inches. Signed "Danby" upper left corner with the year 56, below signature. We cannot definitively state if this painting was painted by Ken Danby. We have contacted numerous art dealers as well as Danby's estate and the consensus is that it could have been painted by him, however, it may very well not have been painted by him. We are still in the process of authenticating this piece. An early exhibition catalogue from one of Danby's exhibitions mentions that a teacher from Danby's high school bought two of his paintings while still a student. Is this one of them? We are actively looking for pictures of Danby's family. Is this painting of Danby's paternal grandfather? Questions remain. Painting was framed in Etobicoke, now Toronto. J.M. Dent and Sons. No Binding. Very Good/No Jacket. About the books: Three books are part of this collection. From the personal library of Katherine Waddell, Canadian poet Archibald Lampman's muse and love interest, until the day he died in February 10, 1899, age 37. The first book is Volume Two of Jean Ingelow's Poems published in 1890. The book has been inscribed to Katherine inside front boards. This book was given to her on her birthday, June 26, 1891. It was this book that verified the previous owner's identity. The second book is Cranford by Mrs. Gaskell published by Rodgers Co. This book has been inscribed to Ms. Waddell from William Dawson LeSueur, author and boss of both Lampman and Waddell at the Post Office in Ottawa. LeSueur's signature is nearly impossible to locate. 2013. No Binding. Very Good. About the Typewriter: This typewriter has never been owned, nor has it ever been used by author Paul Auster. However, he still types his novels on a typewriter (SM-9) similar to this one. It was the inspiration behind his wonderful book "The Story of my Typewriter" Paul Auster signed this during his visit to Toronto in 2013 as part of the IFOA. Inscribed to a "Wm Edwards' on first blank page. Book is in good condition. "Persons represented' is loosening, but still attached. Chipping/flaking/separating to spine cover. Overall, we are quite pleased with the condition of this 163 year old book. Extremely scarce as a first edition. Even more so as a signed copy.

Still attach to title page. 60 loose plates with one fold out table of contents. All are in very good condition. Cover is also in very good condition. Onion skin protecting the cover. 1966. No Binding. Near Fine. About the manuscript: Original manuscript of Al Purdy's book, North of Summer: Poems from Baffin Island. On first page, in Al's handwriting, he wrote "Original Manuscript with publishers. Replaced with zerox copy & revised poems. June 19, 1966. Manuscript is in very nice condition. Pinholes throughout the top portion of manuscript; caused by staples which are no longer present. Comes in custom made protective case. Additional photos available upon request. Captioned, in pencil, below caricature is "Hon. G.C. Brodrick. Warden of Merton by Max in 1892. Drawing was laid into book. Timeline suggests drawing was completed while an undergraduate at Merton College. Opposing page reads: an original cartoon by Max Beerbohm loosely inserted (drawn 1892) On back of drawing, in pencil, is: original caricature by Max Beerbohm. About the book: Hardcover no jacket. Published in 1879. Interior is in good condition. Exterior boards are starting to split. Book is inscribed by author No 6, 1879 to Charles S. Roundell from his sincere friend. Roundell bookplate inside front cover. Also comes with correspondence from Roger Hart Davis concerning the inclusion of the image in a forthcoming catalogue in 1967. Title "Wychwood Blue Jay" lower left side. Pinholes on all four corners surrounding the drawing. Image visible measures 4 inches by 4 inches approximately. Ministerio de Educación Pública de Chile , 1972. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Good. About the book: Softcover. First Printing. Published in celebration of Neruda's Nobel Prize this book was distributed to libraries and unions free of charge. Neruda waived his rights to any royalties. Book has been inscribed on title page by Neruda. Also inscribed by Allende at the end of his introduction to book. First page has a doodle/drawing by Neruda. Recipient of book was a man named "Rene Zorrilla" There is an auditorium at the Metropolitan University of Technology in Chile named after Zorrilla, however, we are unsure if they are one and the same. Antanas Tamosaitis, 1969. 1st Edition 1st Printing. No Binding. Very Good. About the painting: Oil on painter's board. No date listed, however, we believe this painting may have been painted in the late sixties. With the frame the painting measure 26 x 50 inches. Frame is shaky, most likely the original frame. Title of painting is "Blue Symphony" found on label on the lower reverse side. Number 29 is both on the label and written on reverse side of painting. Painting overall is in very good condition. Self-Published, 1894. No Binding. Near Fine/New. About the card: Index card measures 2x3 inches. 3/4 inch discoloration left hand side. Residue on back side of card. Near fine condition. Archibald Lampman has written the last four lines from his poem "We Too Shall Sleep" The lines are: In the same silent plot O little friend/Side by the side/In peace that changeth not, nor knoweth end/we too shall sleep./ Archibald Lampman. He wrote this poem in August, 1894, shortly after the death of his second child, Arnold. His son was less than four months old when he died. Archibald Lampman died five years later at the age of 38 and now rests beside his son in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.

Rous & Mann's on dewey decimal system on spine (c/37). Book is in good condition with moderate wear. Tearing/separation to last end page. Many of the Group of Seven, including Tom Thomson worked for Rous & Mann more than 100 years ago.
