New York: The Grolier Club, 2015. Large 4to, 29.5 cm., 11 ¾ inches, 351 pp ,illustrations in colour, black and white, facsimiles, portraits of Aldus Manutius. Green cloth with gilt ltitles and the Aldine mark prominantly displayed on the front cover, in gold. Companion book to the exhibition "Aldus Manutius: A Legacy more lasting than Bronze" held at the Grolier Club from 25 Febrary to 25 April 2015 to mark the 500th anniversary of Aldus's death. Only five hundred copies were printed. Design and typography by Jerry Kelly, the author of various splendid books on typography. Typeset in a new version of the seminal Aldine roman typeface of 1495 ... Grolier, 2015, interpreted by Kelly and first used in this volume. Richmond, VA: T. Stevens, 1865. General U.S. Grant woven silk campaign ribbon, 13x4 cm., 5x1.5 inches. With portrait and motto "I will fight it out on this line". White silk with red, white and blue design & black portrait above the flags and eagle. This commemorates Grant's taking of Vicksburg, a strategic city on the Mississippi, for the Union armies. T. Stevens, Coventry on the reverse. Thomas Stevens (1828-1888) was a weaver from Coventry, England famous for inventing the 'stevengraph' to produce colorful woven silk pictures. His pattern book was saved by just before his factories were destroyed in the Coventry Blitz of 1940 and the remaining productions have gained in value to this day. A few small stains appear at the top edge and this scarce copy lacks the original tassel. Good condition.. Good. 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall. Ephemera.

Producer and co-author Francis Paudras was a French commercial artist, jazz patron and author memorialized in a book "La Danse des Infidéles" (1986.) Hard cover folio with smooth maroon boards with title label on front cover, housed in original laminated box designed as a gift parcel. First and only edition, 409 pages. Introductory text and photo captions in English and French. The box cover has a small chip and the corners have been professionally reinforced. Very light edgewear to book, otherwise unmarked.
