Books signed by Elvis are very scarce and considering that he was an avid bibliophile (he apparently passed away holding a book) this is quite a lovely and unique piece of EP memorabilia. Includes the map of Walden of between pages 306 and 307. Printed in an edition of under 300 copies, this third edition is exceedingly hard to find, especially so in decent condition. The book is in almost near fine condition. Previous owner's inscription present on the title page (From John S. Browne - E.W.C.) as well as their initials at the foot of pages 200 and 300. Hinges tight and uncracked. Light spotting to the front/back matter. Interior pages are mostly clean with some scattered spotting and soiling. This copy contains a signed inscription and large original drawing by Erik Hesselberg on the front end page. Hesselberg was the only trained sailor aboard the famous 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition (a journey by raft across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian Islands) led by the Norwegian explorer and writer, Thor Heyerdahl, who later directed a film based upon the journey which won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 1951.
