London: James S. Virtue. Full-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Both volumes: Light scuffing to the fore-corners. Gilt page edges, and gilt spine titles and decoration on morocco covers; marbled endpapers. Light foxing to the early and late pages of the text blocks. The binding is tight and square, and the text is clean; the hinges are remarkably intact for books of this weight; they appear to have never seen much use. No date given, but a light pencil name and date on the front free endpapers indicates 1873 or before. Vol. I: 643 pp. Vol. II: 666 pp. (!). Steel engravings throughout the text, with fold-out maps of Constantinople and the Roman Empire, and views of Rome and modern Alexandria. A very pretty set.

Anton Otto Fischer. 249 pp. The spine is faded through sunning, light sunning to the rear cover near the spine; light shelf-soiling to upper page edges. Some foxing to title page. Navy blue cloth boards with white titles. The binding is tight and square, and the text is clean and bright. The sunning notwithstanding, a very pretty, very scarce, copy.

Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 706 pp. The hinges are cracked, but holding; the fore-corners of the covers are worn; the top and bottom 1/2" of the spine covering is torn. The title page has become detached and is laid in. Shelf-soiling to the page edges. Bound in navy-blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles and decorations. The text is clean.

The binding is tight and square, and the text is clean. The jacket is scuffed at the edges and has a 1" closed tear at the base of the spine. Number 5 of a limited first edition of 100 copies, signed by the artist.

Each volume is bound tightly (excepting volume 6, on which the front hinge has cracked) and squarely, with clean text. Some volumes are slightly scuffed at the edges of the covers and/or shelf-soiled on the page edges. Consists of a one-volume "Accounting Mentor of Theory and Practice" (volume 1), eleven volumes of the "Accounting Quiz-Answerer" on the technique of accounting practice and procedure (voulmes 2-12), and a one-volume "Encyclopedic Index" (volume 13). A very serviceable set.

The front cover is stamped in gold with the previous owner's name "Jack D. Grooms." This is a special presentation copy, signed by the authors on the half-title page, but also signed on the front endpapers by many of the descendants of the first settlers of Valdese.
