The dustjacket is unclipped and has only a very light and small crease at the top of the front flap--very light--and a tiny bit of edgewear to one tip. With Carver's story "Cathedral"--the author catapulted himself into super stardom of American Lit--and now a cult figure as well. Rare to find signed.

Henry Allen also wrote as Clay Fisher--and together Will Henry/Clay Fisher had 7 titles made into movies including "McKenna's Gold"--"The Tall Men" and "Tom Horn". Light edgewear on dustjacket with only the slightest of chipping to head and heel of spine-- and no tears. The dustjacket has mild edgewear to the corners and head of the spine and scant rubbing to the rear jacket cover--a very rare collectible copy with the hard to find dustjacket. The story of Jesse James from one of America's finest Western authors--Henry Allen--who wrote as Will Henry. Henry Allen also wrote as Clay Fisher--and together Will Henry/Clay Fisher had 7 titles made into movies including "McKenna's Gold"--"The Tall Men" and "Tom Horn". Will Henry himself grew up in Missouri and had connections to the legend. Extremely scarce signed.

First Edition--Two volume set. Full Morocco with gilt edges all around. Finely decorated exterior in tooled leather and gilt lettering. 5 Raised bands on the spine. A handsome near fine set with a tiny bit of rubbing to the extremities-- and a bit of light foxing to a few pages. Steel engravings to the portraits from full length portraits done by the author with facsimile signatures of the figures (from record) below the portraits. There are 57 engravings on Vol 1 and 62 on Vol 2. Portraits are accompanied by a brief biography penned by Duyckinck---a biographer and historical narrator. Volume 1 has almost no exterior rubbing and Volume 2 has just a little bit of rubbing mostly to the extremities. The gilt edges all around are like new condition. 9 1/4" x 11 1/4". Goldstone collection of early Western Fiction. This copy is in Very Good condition with a very good unclipped ($2.00) dustjacket. There is overall moderate age toning with some minor wear to the extremities, rubbing to the cloth boards and some soiling to the page ends--a well read copy--but also tight and square with no compromise to the binding or spine. The rare dustjacket is bright and colorful, missing some of the paper at the heel of the spine--and with light chipping at the head of the spine and a couple of closed end tears. The verso of the dustjacket has a Paramount Picture advertisement of the movie starring J. Warren Kerrigan and Lois Wilson--. Goldstone--with his penciled signature and notes to the front free endpaper. This copy is signed by Zane Grey on the front free endpaper--signature only. Goldstone was a prolific collector of early Western Fiction--and along with his brother, Homer, were bibliographers of Steinbeck. A very good clean copy with light toning to the cloth boards, owner name opposite front pastedown--(small)-- and a little dustiness to the page edges--but overall a nice presentable and collectible copy--no fading to the lettering on the front board or spine--spine and hinges are strong. First Edition "K-F" on copyright page. Scarce to find in this condition.

Kappel (Crew #1), Hank Potter (Navigator Crew #1), Frank Hoover (Pilot Crew #2), R. E. Cole (Co-Pilot Crew #1) and Dave Pohl (Gunner #8-part of the crew that ended up in Russia). A superb first print copy of this critical look at author Larry McMurtry and his influence of Western Historical Fiction sine 1962. Signed by McMurtry on the front free endpaper. McMurtry won the Pulitzer Prize in 1985 for Lonesome Dove--but in Literary and Texas circles McMurtry is even more widely admired for his essays. His early work of "Horseman Pass By", Terms Of Endearment", etc..are his most admired works besides "LD"--and only slightly less in scope are his later publications. This is a title every McMurtry collector should have in his/her collection. Near fine with just the lightest of dustiness to the page edges--dustjacket is unclipped and fine.
