Chapman and Hall, 1859. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. First single-volume edition. Previously serialized. Marbled boards with brown half-leather and elaborate gilt decoration, decorative tooling in blind, and black leather title window at spine with gilt titles. Small bookbinder's ticket at front paste down - bound by "H. Brown" of Penrith. Rubbed, scuffed and edgeworn, with fraying to papered edges of the boards. One inch split to top of rear outer hinge. Interior hinges just slightly cracked at endsheets; thread binding strong. Interior lightly toned, with heavy foxing through front matter and to last few pages, but with the remainder of the pages only sparsely foxed throughout; else clean, the text remarkably bright for its age. Illustrated throughout with engravings by "Phiz," the pseudonym of artist Hablot Knight Browne, who also illustrated works by Charles Dickens. All plates present.

Philadelphia: T.B. Peterson and Brothers, 1870. Very good overall. Lever was the well known Irish author. This edition published in Philadelphia, in the publishers cloth binding. 8vo, 258pp, frontis & 3 plates. Text printed in two columns, complete in one volume. Publishers brown blind stamped and gilt titled cloth. Spine tips slt chipped with small hinge split. One fascicule loose in binding. Overall very bright. OCLC 12275700 cites a Kirtas reprint edition.

Large 8vo, handsome half dark green morocco and marbled boards by Tout, raised bands, gilt titles and gilt decorated compartments including gilt clover emblems, gilt top edge, marbled endpapers, 695 pp., illustrated including a frontispiece and an engraved title page (in addition to the letterpress title page), clean unmarked text, Very Good copy, bookplate (of John Monks) on front pastedown, a bit of wear to the tips of the outer pages, age-toning or discoloration to the pages and page-edges, minimal rubbing to the outer joints and corners, lightest wear to the spine-ends. The bookplate of John Monks was probably designed by him; Monks (1850-1917) was a well known painter and etcher in Boston and New York.
