Each volume measures around 10 7/8" by 8 1/4" by 1/8". Some wear to folder. A little wear to volumes at edges and on spines, with some marking to first volume. Some reference numbers written on publisher information pages and some hand-written notes on inside of rear covers of volumes one and three, but otherwise page surfaces clean. Dark green cloth binding, red lettering to front board, gilt lettering and detail to spine, signs of shelf-wear and a little marking but quite clean. Binding reasonably firm, a little slackness but quite sound. Page edges deckled, a little browned, foxed and scuffed. Slim volume, with dust jacket, which is torn and tattered, with some scuffing and marking. Brown card covers, gilt lettering to front cover, quite clean. Page edges slightly foxed, scuffed and browned but reasonably clean. Tipped in frontispiece of Aberdeen. A few little areas of foxing towards edges of pages in preliminaries and hindmost pages but otherwise page surfaces clean, with no marginalia, underlining, etc. See pictures for further information.

No dust jacket. Some signs of wear, marking and rubbing to boards but reasonably clean and dark blue colour still quite vivid. Bumped and scuffed corners. Binding firm. Page edges a little marked, browned and slightly tanned but otherwise clean and page surfaces very clean, no underlining, marginalia, etc., only a previous owner name and date to the FFEP. In decent condition for age. Some wear and marking to covers. A little tearing where covers meet spine. Only slight creasing to spine, which is a little faded and torn. Hardback, 1867 first edition, published by Griffith and Farran, London, 355 pages, vintage children's book, rare.
In very good condition for age. Patterned boards and spine with gilt lettering and detail. A little rubbing to boards and signs of shelf-wear at edges but the boards and spine have largely retained their colouring. Corners bumped and slightly torn. Binding reasonably firm although inner front hinge is visibly cracked, whilst inner rear hinge has less apparent crack. Gilt page edges, still very visible, especially on outer and lower edges with only slight scuffs, although upper edge does have more scuffing and the gilt has faded a little but is still clear. Seller stamp to FFEP. A little foxing to endpapers but apart from occasional marks throughout the page surfaces are quite clean, with no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
