There is some occasional faint spotting to the text pages. With 21 mounted photographs on heavy tinted paper and 65 illustrations in the text, all by the author. Nicholl was at the Royal Naval College, Osborne House and wrote the work to interest Osborne cadets in the bird life around the Isle of Wight.

Cr. 4to. Pp. 138. Original cloth. Very good. From the library of William Dutcher, with his signature on the title page. Dutcher was the President of the National Association of Audubon Societies. Included is a letter from him to the London Times dated 1910 concerning the mass killing of birds for the millinery trade and the death of three wardens trying to protect the birds.

The final plate and endpaper in vol. 2 is loose. Each plate is dated and the location of the nesting site is given.
