A copy that sometime during its existence has gotten several small holes in the covers and the text. The last page contains a catalogue of the books on art that were published by the Arco do Cego press and a list of libraries where these could be bought. Quite rare little work with only a few copies in libraries around the world.First, and only Portuguese edition of this work by François Saverio Vispré, first published in French as "Le Moyen De Devenir Peintre En Trois Heures". The book, in the form of a dialogue, was first published in France in 1755 and was popular enough to go through at least four editions. In 1763 problems arise between the Duke Fitz-James and the Parliament of Toulouse caused by the registration of certain edicts about taxes that Fitz-James had been ordered to do and to which the Parliament of Toulouse was opposed, which results in an escalation and the house arrest of most members of the Parliament. Fitz-James had to resign and lived in disgrace until 1766, when he became commander of Béarn, Navarre and Guyenne

1829. Paris, Imprimerie Royale, 1829. 28pp. Orwrs. (dam., loose & waterstaining throughout). Answer of the administrator of the Imprimerie Royale, M. Baron Villebois, to the demand of the Parisian printers of the suppression of the Imprimerie Royale in 1829. They found the Imprimerie Royale dangerous for the freedom, destructive for commerce, and thought it misused the taxpayers' money. Ronsard (1524-1585) was born at the Manoir de la Possonnière, in the village of Couture-sur-Loir, Loir-et-Cher, France. Together with Joachim de Bellay, Ronsard was one of the seven members of the Pléiade (or Brigade, as it was first called) and he was the acknowledged chief of the Pléiade and its most voluminous poet. He was probably also its best, though a few isolated pieces of Belleau excel him in airy lightness of touch. His popularity in his own time was overwhelming and immediate, and his prosperity was unbroken. During his last days he lived chiefly at a house which he possessed in Vendôme, the capital of his native province, at his abbey at Croix-Val in the same neighbourhood, or else at Paris. Mostly European-themed Chinese shadow puppetry plates. Metz, Dembour et Gangel, n.d. (c. 1843); Seven plates (out of possibly ten published) (margins cut (size 29.5 x 40 cm.) and pasted on cardboard).
Dembour & Gangel were specialised in popular prints and imagery; founded in 1840 by Adrien-Népomucène Dembour and his associate Gangel in the city of Metz. In 1851 the printing house became Gangel and later Gangel frères et Didion.
Starting in 1843, Dembour & Gangel printed shadow puppetry in order for children to be able to learn and play with traditional and vernacular stories. They take the famous shows of Dominique Seraphin (Metz 1747-1800) as a basis thus evoking his success. Seraphin was the first to bring this type of entertainment from Germany to France and played his "Spectacle pour les enfans de France" in Versailles for the royal family from 1780.

Title in red and black. Contemporary full vellum binding, blindstamped. A nice copy.Third full Bentley edition (an abridged third edition in 8vo. was produced in Cambridge, 1713), according to Brunet. The present edition, and its Amsterdam predecessor, are distinguished by having Bentley's editorial notes on the same page as the text. Dibdin and Brunet therefore preferred them to the Cambridge first.

(ties lacking) Title in contemporary ink on the spine, and an old library label on the spine. (the printing of the index of the second part has been done with very little ink. Last page misnumbered 445).A quite scarce early edition of a popular book at the time that was first published in 1603 and that gives a summary of the most important royal decrees in all fields. Pages 304 to 328 of the first part contains the "Privilège et franchise des marchans libraires, maistres imprimeurs, relieurs et autres personnes nécessaires et requises pour ledit art, composition et fait de ladite imprimerie au Royaume de France". [OCLC gives only two libraries that hold this edition - Rouen, Raphael du Petit-Val, 1609: École des Chartes Paris & Harvard Law School Library].
