PLEASE" Chair, 2016.  Stained birch and UV digital printing with felt seat pad.  Numbered 21 in an edition of 100.  Published by Onestar Press, Paris.  29-7/8 x 17-7/8 x 24 inches (75.9 x 45.4 x 61 cm).  Fine. American conceptual artist John Baldessari says: PLEASE... sit on this chair!  Commissioned by Onestar press and designed by Sébastien de Ganay, the intent of the project was to produce a lounge chair that could be produced and assembled anywhere. The production consists of cutting four pieces out of simple plywood on a local CNC machine - in order to make its carbon trace as low as possible - able to be assembled in a matter of minutes with no screws or glue. The "4 Piece Chair" was born in 2015 with a number of artist collaborations with Onestar Press  including Lawrence Weiner (2015), Rirkrit Tiravani (2016), and John Baldessari, who made the customizations to this particular model in 2016.

Autograph note from the great Spanish composer, conductor, and cellist, one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, boldly signed "Pablo Casals to Pablo Picasso" and inscribed in Spanish "With my greetings, admiration and best wishes" in blue ink to a loose leaf.  In fine condition.  10.5 x 8 inches (26.5 x 20.5 cm.). Provenance: From the Estate of Richard de Grab,  Czech photographer known especially for his many fine portraits of performing artists. Pair of striking black and white photographs by Wolfgang von Wangenheim, later reproduced in the book "Danse Africaine" by Germaine Acogny.  Gelatin Silver Prints ca. 1980, one of a female figure with upturned palms oustretched, the other, a male figure with arms extended. 8.75 x 11.75 inches. Signed still from the 1948 comedy, distributed by Paramount, of the actress in "Wild West" costume in the role of Calamity Jane.  Russell, one of Hollywood's leading sex symbols throughout the 1940's and 50's, has signed in blue ballpoint pen to the lower left.  8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm). In very fine condition.From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon's stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy's Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.

Used; Like New/Used; Like New. Advertising brochure with title "Paris de Paree: The Original Albert Alberta Sex Family. The European Enigma." Four pages as folded, 9.5 x 12.5 in. A few folds, but overall very good.  Last page with "Albert-Alberta's" autobiographical information. S/he claimed to have been born in 1899 in France and named Alberta at birth. Brought up as a girl, about the age of 10 (plus a few months), the two sides of her body began growing out of proportion, eventually developing male characteristics on the right and female characteristics on the left. There followed four normal siblings, then a young brother, named Albert. At birth a beautiful baby boy (in Alberta's words), but at the age of seven, one breast grew, and at the age of 14, the other breast grew, then later, the neck lengthened and smoothed (changes occurring every seven years according to Alberta). Used; Like New/Used; Like New. 8vo.  35 pp.  [PN] 4793.  Lithograph score for Mozart's String Quintet No. 4 in G minor, K. 516.  A superb copy of the reissue of the 1800 edition.  RISM MM 5982a.  Very fine condition in original blue wrappers."The contrast between the two quintets of spring 1787 prefigures that between the G minor and 'Jupiter' symphonies: the C major spacious and affirmative, its successor, the String Quintet in G minor K516, shocking in its intense pathos and chromatic disquiet, at least until the finale's apparent 'happy ending'.  Commentators have linked the G minor quintet's despairing tone to Count von Hatzfeld's death and Leopold Mozart's last illness (he died on 28 May, twelve days after Wolfgang entered the work in his thematic catalogue).  Yet as always with the composer, the music transcends emotional autobiography."
