Published by Scribner's in 2004 and in a limited edition by Centipede Press. Features a wonderfully spooky artwork. In my humble opinion, a more pleasing book than the first US trade edition which can easily fetch about $1500+.

Originally published by Doubleday 's in 1975 in a slightly smaller edition, this larger trade size hardcover probably was published circa 1980. The larger size is a slightly more pleasing book than the first trade edition which can easily fetch about $1500+.
Fine- in Near Fine Dust Jacket, a beautiful copy, the book itself appears like new and unread, NO tears and NO chips to the jacket but some crinkling to the lower back edge and top spine. Relatively uncommon in this edition.

The Shadow of the Torturer The Book of the New Sun Volume I by Gene Wolfe Hardcover First UK Edition - First Printing London: Sidgwick & Jackson UK, 1981 £7.95 (published in the US by Timescape/Simon & Schuster in 1980) Features wonderful dust jacket wrap-around artwork with Severian in cape with his sword Terminus Est in a dark futuristic landscape by Bruce Pennington. Still the best jacket artwork of any edition in my opinion. (Reportedly printed in 4000 hardcover copies of the Timescape Edition, probably no more than 1500 to 2000 copies in the UK.)
Nearly Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket, a beautiful copy with a couple of slight imperfections. Mainly, there is some stamping at the top of the page with the poem before the main text, really no big deal, although there are NO other signs this copy being an x-library. End-papers are clean and NO stamping on the edges of the text-block. There is a slight artificial stain on the right-hand edge of the text-block. (No hardcover edition of this book has been released in the US to my knowledge.) Extremely uncommon copy of one of Tanith Lee's early novels, one of about a dozen give or take Gothic-Fantasy novels by Lee in fantasy settings published by Macmillan UK from the 1970's to the early 1980's.

The Short Reign of Pippin the Short A Fabrication by John Steinbeck (author of Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden, Of Mice and Men, and Cannery Row) Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Viking 1957. Fine- in Near Fine- price-clipped Dustjacket. A really nice copy of one Steinbeck's more humorous offerings. Book itself is just about as close to fine as you could desire, corners straight, inner pages clean, spine lettering very bold, very slight toning to pages edges which is to be expected. The dust jacket is in really nice shape, very bright at the front, price-clipped and slight chip to lower rear corner, very slight fading to spine, and typical fraying to lower spine edge, else essentially all there. A very nice smart copy.

(Also released in the US by Houghton Mifflin) No cover price, indicating the export market state which apparently was released prior to all other editions. Includes a map opposite page 121 and map on the back. Also includes several pages of genealogies. Also there are several first state/first printing errors: On page 330, missing the period after Feanor near the top, and page 352, "and" is italicized between "Lord of the Waters" and "King of the Sea" towards the bottom. Fine in Fine Dust Jacket. A superb copy, nearly perfect in conceivable facet: corners straight, boards clean, pages white and clean. Printing number-line on copyright page, staggered, with "1" the lowest number present indicating a first printing.
Near Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket. A fairly nice copy, by no means perfect, with some faint soiling to the boards and shelf-wear, but in a nearly perfect well-preserved jacket with some edge-wear here and there. Still a nice presentable copy for much less than a fine example.
Edition Note: A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin was first published in hardcover in the UK by HarperCollins/Voyager and Bantam in the US in 1996. Some controversy exists regarding which edition appeared first. Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein (author of "Stranger in a Strange Land", "Rocket Ship Galileo", and "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress") Limited Hardcover Artist Edition Suntup Press 2021 illustrated by Thomas Canty in a limited edition of 750 copies in slipcase. Fine as NEW in shrink-wrap.
NOTE: The original first edition of Stranger in a Strange Land was published in 1961 by G.P. Putnam's Sons US. It is regarded as one of a handful of science fiction novels which pushed on the boundaries of sf from being merely an escapist genre into higher literature. (Dune by Frank Herbert, some of the work of Philip K. Dick and Ursula Le Guin also pushed the genre creating a sub-genre of literary science fiction.) First edition copies in fine condition generally fetch about $4000+ so this is a wonderful alternative and probably the best edition of this book ever published. This title is regarded as one of quite possibly Heinlein's best novel and one of his most popular.
