Los Angeles, 1892; Official satin judge’s badge from the 1892 Southern California Citrus Fair, held at Los Angeles that year. Complete with original pinback and braided trim. A rare piece of Los Angeles and Southern California history, from a time when citrus was king and thriving fruit groves surrounded the city. Fine in all respects. Clean, text bright, satin brilliant, with all original sheen preserved.

Light foxing with some markings on edges, a small loss to bottom corner of dedication page of the Genoese Glaces volume. Cloth rubbed and bumped at covers and spine, o/w very good. Harris was the founder of the British Confectioner's Association in 1905.

Nims and Knight. Troy. New York. 1889. Calendar printed on 18 stiff sheets of card. (5.9 x 4.5 inches). Complete. Each leaf has a litho colour illustration depicting a scene from Japanese life, printed after fine water colours by J. Pauline Sunter. Twelve of the cards have the month dates printed to the side of the illustration. The lithography is by G. H Beuk & Co, New York. The cards are held together by two metal rings through punched holes at the top, and have a white silk cord, with tassles, threaded through. The cards are stiff white coated paper with silver edges. The front card has damage to the two holes and is now not attached but all others are firmly in place. The front cover is also a little dusty but generally the whole calendar is very good and features some very attractive illustrations. A rare item. No copies listed on Worldcat.

A much later edition this influential and massively successful cookbook, originally published in 1901. The emphasis is American, with a smattering of hearty Jewish Eastern European fare. In earlier editions, the Jewish/Eastern European influence was more prevalent. This copy is extraordinary, in unused condition bright and fresh, with the original white, washable boards shiny and clean, the original publisher's green dust jacket, with white bland and red printed text and decoration is equally exceptional.
