Small 8vo, approximately 165 x 100 mm, 6½ x 4 inches, 4 engravings, 2 engraved illustrations and 2 engraved pages of explanatory text, 52 pages of prelims, Preface, Contents and Advice to Cooks, 364 unnumbered pages, bound in antique half calf, gilt lettering and decoration to spine, marbled boards, edges coloured pale yellow. Light age-browning, first inner paper hinge cracked, neat ink inscription on blank endpaper, otherwise a very good clean crisp copy, no loose pages and binding tight and firm. Though a common title the first edition is scarce.
