The topics covered in each decade are diverse--from the imapct of media on Canadian eating habits to how kitchens have changed. Each chapter includes recipes typical of the period--Edwardian picnics, wartime specials, Depression recipes, along with canadian classics such as Nanaimo bars and Butter tarts. All the 400 recipes have been tested. As well this book contains the most extensive cookbook bibliography tht I have come across, with photos of some of the important Canadian cookbooks.
