Broadside with old folds, edge wear, tears, & a couple of old tissue repairs on the verso, good or better. Manuscript folded & foxed.
General Nathaniel P Banks, via Assistant Adjutant General & Major of Volunteers R Morris Copeland, condemns the actions of troops for "depredations on property, disturbance of peaceful families and the most reprehensible infringement upon the rights of citizens" and warns of the consequences:

Publisher's pictorial tan wraps housed in a later maroon slipcase & chemise lettered by hand in black ink on the spine Although relatively common in book form, OCLC finds two copies only in parts (British Library; British Library Reference Collection) as of 5/22/2020.

First edition, one of 1000 hardbound copies, this one of 200 issued with an original lithograph signed, dated, & numbered by the artist. Small folio, xiii & 192 pp, illustrated throughout in color & black & white. Laid in and enclosed in a folding sleeve is the untitled lithograph, number 7 of 200, measuring 11.75 inches by 8.75 inches. Publisher's blue cloth lettered in silver on the spine & upper cover, in pictorial dust jacket. A fine copy in near fine dust jacket with slight edge wear and soiling Issued in conjunction with an exhibition at Cornell University's Herbert F Johnson Museum of Art, this catalog of conceptual artist Agnes Denes' work is visually stunning. Includes essays by Peter Selz, Lowery Stokes Sims, Robert Hobbs, and Donald Kuspit. The lithograph, printed in blue ink on thick, deckle-edged paper, is not titled but represented on page 51 as "Model for Probability Pyramid - Study for Crystal Pyramid."

First edition. 8vo, [12], xiv, [6], & 192 pp, which include a four page catalog of books available from John Nutt following the table of contents, and a separate title page preceding part two. Contemporary full brown calf with a gilt-lettered maroon leather spine label, the spine & covers decorated in gilt Ribbon marker sewn. in ESTC T144140. Binding rubbed, upper joint just being to crack, short tear & small hole at v/vi (not affecting text), p 39 with brief bracketing in ink, moderately toned & foxed, otherwise very good. Binding lightly faded & soiled, corners bruised, otherwise Very Good. Internally, a bit age toned, otherwise Fine. Pages 1 through 69, recorded in different inks excepting 4, are hand-numbered, very occasionally dated, with several initialed "L.D.C." presumably written sequentially between the mid to late fifties & early sixties (as suggested primarily by correspondence). Pages 53 & 54 comprise a poem entitled "Two Graves" which are typed & pasted in. Oblong Folio (12.5" x 15.5"), contemporary pictorial black lacquered boards inlaid in relief with bone, containing fifty hand-colored albumen photographs measuring generally 7.75 " x 10" mounted recto and verso to 25 thick card leaves, with tissue guards interleaved. Forty-four of the images are titled in the negative. Binding worn: spine perished, boards and ffeps detached (boards remarkably well preserved although lacking two small inlaid pieces), most tissue guards creased and torn, mounts with slight wave and sporadic foxing/ soiling, 3 photos with minute losses at the edges, a few slightly faded or under exposed, most fresh and rich in tonal quality.Although quite probably a composite album representing photos from different studios, certainly many of the images are from the Yokohama studio of T. Berkeley & Jefferson Counties, Virginia (now West Virginia): not published, 1786 - 1842. Group of ten folio manuscript documents and one partially printed document completed in manuscript involving the real estate transactions of Charles & John Yates in the upper Shenandoah Valley. Approximately 29 pp. in total, all docketed.
Each exhibits expected wear including original folds with associated splits and separations (one document with a small area of archival tissue repair), creasing, tears, small losses (occasionally briefly affecting text), soiling, toning and foxing.
Charles Yates (1728 - 1809) emigrated from England in 1748, first to New York and then, in 1752, to Fredericksburg, Virginia. A prosperous merchant and importer, he was also deeply involved in real estate speculation in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties (now West Virginia). Complete in 13 volumes including an apparently unrecorded volume titled on the spine "Sample Pages" which probably preceded the other 12 volumes. Small octavos (7.75" x 5.25") 3,189 pp, including illustrations, continuously paginated excepting the Sample Pages volume (which is erratically paginated). Original gray stiff paper wraps with yapped edges, each volume with illustration from a woodcut or linocut on the upper cover depicting Ella Buchanan's most famous sculpture, "The Suffragist Trying to Arouse Her Sisters." Tall 4to (12.5" x 7.75"), single sheet, approximately 221 words recorded in ink on laid paper, signed by Francis Yates, Charles Aglionby, & John Yates Beall (apparently for sister Janet M. Beall). Docketed in pencil on the verso.
Folded twice vertically & once horizontally, moderately soiled, couple of short splits along the horizontal fold, small archival tissue repair on the verso, otherwise very good.

"G.W. Fox owed Francis Yates $4688.50, Charles Aglionb $2912.67, & John Y. Beall $494.00. He failed & gave deed of trust on the Halltown Mill property to secure them. Recently rebacked preserving original spine, long tear at the ffep now repaired on the verso (presentation not affected), binding moderately rubbed & soiled, scattered foxing, a very good copy.
Ms. Kraft departed Paris on December 1, 1868 in the company of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas T. Ferris (her sister and brother in law) and traveling companion J.S. Rogers. The group arriived in Egypt on December 11. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1906 - 1913. Limited edition, one of 1250 sets, this hand numbered 61. Twenty-six volumes, I through XXVI (of 28), octavos (8.75" x 6.25"), variously paginated, each volume illustrated with plates from paintings, engravings, etchings, drawings, photos, maps, etc., including frontispieces, with tissue-guards. Publisher's three-quarter crushed dark blue morocco & marbled paper over boards by Haddon & Company (signed), the spines in six compartments separated by raised bands, lettered or decorated in gilt in all compartments. Top edges gilt, the others uncut.
Occasional very minor rubbing mostly affecting raised bands, one volume with slight wear at the top of the spine, a bit of toning to marbled paper, hinge started in volume one (still secure), otherwise near fine.
Issued serially, the first 23 volumes were published in 1906, volumes 24 & 25 in 1910, & volume 26 in 1913. Volumes 27 & 28 (not offered here) were not published until 1920 (per Pacific Book Auctions).… Leer más
