Book has an errata sheet slipped in. It has 8 maps (8 plates) all perfect, all numbered, all protected by a tiussue in which is printed in red the plate number and title, and all dated betwen 1768 and 1792. The book has no writing inside, no dirt, no defects. It is in near fine condition for its age,but has a piece of paper strip missing from top of spine. I highlight that in one of the scans.
The author has signed "from C.F.Newcombe" at the top of the front cover, gifting the book. Newcombe as a noted naturalist and a volunteer at the Provincial Library.

Second UK edition of Parry's 1819-20 Northwest passage expedition. Issued 1821 from same plates as first edition except for typographical corrections (see Arctic Bibliography #13145). Condition is good or better. 19th century full leather binding, marbled endpapers. The primary condition issue is that the front hinge is starting. Front corners of boards are rubbed; stain on back board. The interior is excellent, the only markings are pencil notes on the list of plates, complete with all plates, some foxing on early pages. Pagination: [8], xxix, half title, 310, half title appendix, clxxix, blanks. All 20 plates and maps present and accounted for. Hill 1311. This is Parry's first book but not his first voyage to the arctic which was 1818. Wonderful plates and maps. Please feel free to inquire. See images of the book you will receive.

Light scratches to front and rear board with rubbing to extremities, but otherwise in fine condition. Sir John Ross (1777-1856) was a member of the Royal Navy, British naval officer and explorer who was selected to lead an arctic expedition through David Strait and Baffin Bay in search of a Northwest passage. He commanded the ship Isabella, while William Edward Parry was in command of their second ship, Alexander. Captain Edward Sabine was chosen by the Royal Society to make scientific observations. The compartments rule, lettered, and fully decorated with floral devices, all in gilt. Both boards with matching triple ruled borders and decorative floral, dot and ruled line design. Board edges with single gilt ruled lines. Turn-ins decorated with triple ruled lines, dots and floral devices, all in gilt. Plain green endpapers. All edges gilt. A lovely copy of this 19th century poem in a fine, highly attractive, but sadly unsigned by the binder, leather binding.
