New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1918. Later Edition/Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. In green pictorial cloth with green illustrations and titling. Light edgewear to spine ends. Owner's name, date, address and ""yosemite - 43"" to top of ffep. A small rectangular stain to bottom of ffep where something was laid in place for a while, also tape stains(not scars) to top and bottom of endpapers - assuming where protected jacket rested. Bug hole to top inside of front hinge and rear hinge is beginning to split at top, but still solid. Interior and exterior very clean otherwise. Jacket is very nice with just a few small chip/nicks to spine ends, corners and top edge of flaps, and two 1/2 inch closed tears to top of rear panel and top of rear flap. Later edition/printing based on date of book advertised on rear flap and owner's date - 1925 at the earliest. Three period photos from previous owner laid in.

Early reprint in a smaller format and part of the Murray Hill Library from the 1920's. Light edgewear, mostly to spine ends and some tiny spots of loss to gilt on spine. Light tanning to endpapers. Jacket has 1 inch square piece missing to top of spine and has had tape repairs on inside of jacket to long split on spine at crease with front panel and corners. Some chipping to top edge of jacket, bottom of spine and corners with one small chip missing to middle of jacket spine and one to rear crease. Otherwise, a few short closed tears to jacket edges and another vertical split to spine crease at rear panel that has not been repaired with associated horizontal splits across spine.Scarce with jacket.

New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1964. First US Edition/First Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good - . The follow-up to Little Toot. Book in beautiful shape with blue pictorial cloth that shows a few faint smudges. Jacket has clipping to bottom of front flap, but price at top ($3.50) is intact. Some light wear and nicks to spine ends and corners with one 1/4 inch closed tear to top of front panel near flap crease. Printer's Gold sticker to bottom of front panel near spine is missing the third closest to spine which has scarred the jacket in a small spot as well.

Hollywood: Hollycrofters, Inc. Ltd., 1932. First Edition/First Printing. Hardcover. Good/Good + . Signed by author on title page.. Apart from issues noted, an absolutely beautiful edition for the age in pale green boards and dark green cloth to spine with tipped on title panels to front board and spine. Some wear/splitting to top front corner and bottom rear corner and more notably a hard hit to top rear corner with loss of a 1/4 X 1/2 inch chip through paper covered boards and halfway into cardboard with attendant splitting. Would be Near Fine without the corner damage. Book pages are still uncut. Profusely illustrated. Small bookstore sticker to top of rear pastedown. Jacket has some chipping at or near corners with associated 1/2 inch closed tears to top and bottom rear corners. One small horizontal chip 1/8 inch high to bottom of rear panel. Philadelphia & New York: J.B. Lippincott Company, 1940. First US Edition/5th Printing. Hardcover. Good/Fair. In red cloth with black type. Some moisture staining to edges of boards, but interior is clean and bright. Jacket is unclipped ($2.25) and also has moisture staining mostly to bottom edge of jacket. Small chips/rubbbing to corners and spine ends and several small nicks/short tears. Also, a small chip to middle of spine and faint sticker removal scar to rear panel. Extremely scarce.

New York: The Macmillan Company, 1954. First US Edition/8th Printing. Hardcover. Good/Fair. In tan cloth with dark brown type and design motif to spine. Ex-library copy with tape adhesive stains to top and bottom exterior of boards and to endpapers. Library pocket, stamp and notes to ffep with a few marks/small stains to page ends - otherwise clean. Jacket has chip to bottom third of spine, small adhesive stain to bottom of spine and edges of jacket, and front flap with text is cleanly removed and laid in ($4.00 price intact), though missing about 1/2 inch in height. Extremely scarce in this edition.

Paris: Ambroise Dupont, Editeur, 1837. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/N/A. Appears to be original binding in marbled paper covered boards and leather spine with gilt to type and design motif. Worn through in many spots to board edges including corners which are missing leather points. Some small loss to head and heel of spine. Endpapers and page ends marbled. Only 1/2 inch of blue ribbon marker remaining at top. Pages are foxed and tanned. Binding still solid.

Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1958. Second Edition/6th Printing. Hardcover. Good/Poor. Tenth Impression overall of the US Edition as stated on the front jacket flap. In light green cloth with blue type and cap motif. Several faint splash stains to top and front page ends. One small spot to middle of spine. Rear bottom corner slighty soft, but corners sharp overall. Endpapers of Thror's map lovely in black and white. Full color frontispiece with 'Printed in Great Britain' to copyright page. Front hinge is starting to split at top third at verso of ffep and bottom 2/3 at page following with 1/4 inch transverse tear between, but binding still solid. A few small dark spots/stains to page following ffep and 2-3 after as well as tops of 3-4 pages, otherwise nice and clean. Scarce jacket is clipped at bottom of front flap with chipping at corners, 3/4 inch split to bottom of front flap crease and 1 3/4 inch split to bottom of rear flap crease. New York: Random House, 1949. First US Edition/First Printing. Hardcover. Fair/Good. The early dystopian classic available in the original edition. Stated First Printing. Scarce with author's signature to half-title page. In light blue debossed cloth boards with darker blue cloth spine and silver type. top page ends tinted light blue. Unfortunately, to combat pigment/paper loss common to boards of this edition, a previous owner painted boards blue(but not spine). Some light loss still visible to board ends and corners. Light wear overall with sharp corners. A tiny blue spot to bottom page ends and some very faint smudges to endpapers and paper abrasions to pastedowns. Otherwise clean with tight binding. Would be Very Good if not for aforementioned coloration of boards. Jacket price is price-clipped with some very small chips primarily to top corners, head of spine and top of panels. Crease to front flap with smaler edge crease, some scuffing and spotting to top of rear flap.

Volume IV in The Novels of Dostoevsky with only three other titles listed: The Brothers Karamazov, The Possessed and The Idiot and 'Printed in England' on copyright page. Letter A to first page and Ballantyne Printer's slug to last page. In grey cloth with gilt to type and top page ends which have a little pigment loss to gold. Spine is lightly tanned with very light wear at ends. Nice sharp corners, clean interior and tight binding. Early Printing

A lovely set of four volumes in two that likely published after the four volume first authorized American edition in olive cloth by the same publisher. In blue cloth and bright gilt. A little tanning to top and front page ends with a light stain/smudge to top page ends of first volume. A few tiny spots of wear to spine ends and corners, otherwise few marks. Some foxing to endpapers, otherwise clean interior, sharp corners and tight bindings.

The First US Printing of this translation direct into English with date of first printing on title page, 'Printed in England' on copyright page and only four titles listed. In grey cloth with gilt to top page ends that has dulled. Dinged corners frayed at bottom. Shallow strip to top of spine mostly gone and a few spots of fraying to bottom. Tanning and soiling/marks to spine. Interior surprisingly clean with mild tanning and solid binding.

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1920. First US Edition/1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/N/A. Stated 'Published September, 1920' with colophon to on copyright page as per first issue. In dark green cloth with blind stamp titling to front cover and gilt to spine which has dulled a bit. Rubbing through cloth and softening at bottom corners, with softening to top corners as well. A few nicks to heel of spine and a 1/4 inch tear at head. Some spots/marks and smudges to cloth, but not excessive. Some light tanning to pages and page ends. Deckle edge with some tears to front edge of last page and page following as still uncut and a sloppy attempt was made from the top a third of the way down. Letter and number 'C10' to ffep, otherwise clean interior and solid binding. In brand new high quality facsimile jacket.

Tokyo: Ogawa Seibundo, 1918. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Very Good/N/A. First Edition in English. Stated 1918 to title page with 1919 on cover which is standard to this edition. All further printings show year published. No endpapers issued for this copy, so possibly different state or early printing from same year of publication. In red cloth blind stamped to covers and with gilt to type and design motif on spine. Tanning to text block from paper used. Small pale stain to rear board and a few stay marks with 'Made in Japan' sticker to rear pastedown which has a little lifting to same corner and top of hinge. Quite nice overall given the age.

Cambridge: The Nesfa Press, 1984. First US Edition/First Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First Edition stated. A scarce edition limited and numbered to 1000 copies of which this is #713 collecting stories, essays and poems and the first ever map from the world of The Book of the New Sun. In black cloth with red type to spine. Bump to bottom front corner with lesser ding to bottom rear. Interior clean and binding solid. Jacket has nick to head of spine and very short tear and scuff to bottom front corner.
