Printed for the author by Ibotson and Palmer, London, 1828, 1st edition. Half leather binding with paper covered boards. Seven raised bands to spine. Gilt lettering on red leather patch to compartment two. Elephant folio, 27ins x 20ins (69cm x 51cm), [viii], 105pp text followed by 17 plates. Of the text pages, 1 to 76 refers to the Menai bridge, 77 to 82 to Conway, 83 to 105 comprise 10 appendices and includes one additional plate. This additional plate is an engraving of a resolution sent to Lord Liverpool requesting the passing of a law to allow the building of the Menai Bridge and it contains 59 facsimile signatures. Of the 17 numbered plates, the first is a map, 2,3,4 & 5 are double page fold outs, ie 4 pages per plate in total, 15, 16 & 17 are engravings of views of the bridge (looking towards Beaumauris, Caernarvon and the Castle respectively). Each volume recently rebound in matching half leather binding with marbled boards. There is a double page county map and 53 plates as listed in the binding directions. Three of the plates are coloured. A plate of St Albans Abbey forms the frontis to vol 1, the county map is the frontis to vol 3 - all the rest of the plates have been gathered together at the end of each volume. There is also an additional plate in volume one entitled ""South view of the Abbey Church, St Albans, Herts"". This was published by a W. Langley and is quite heavily foxed. Small folio, 14ins x 9.5ins, xiv, 59pp, limitation page plus colour frontis and 7 double page colour illustrations by John Piper. Edited and introduced by Walford Davies. Printed on T.H. Saunders pure rag mould paper. Fine in VG nr F slipcase.

Six raised bands to spine, gilt lettering on green background to compartments 2 and3. Gilt decoration to other compartments. Gilt border to front and reaar boards. 14ins x 9ins, marbled endpapers. Volume one: [x], xxviii, 195pp,(Colchester) 28pp appendix, 4pp addenda, 519pp, list of plates. Volume two: [vi], 646pp. There are 9 maps and 25 plates (7 folding and one coloured) .The coloured plate is of the tesselated Roman floor and is in addition to the regular plate. This set includes the often absent plate of Audley End. Volume two has a stain to the top right hand margin of the first 90pp. Index of volume two quite heavily foxed. Corners worn and rubbed. Overall a VG complete set. Nb Heavy set weighing over 6kg, would be expensive to post overseas.

Five raised bands to spine, gilt lettering to compartments 2 and 4, gilt decorations to others. Teg. Folio, 15.25ins x 11.5ins. Volume one (Norfolk): marbled endpapers, xxvi, 67pp plus coloured frontis and 123pp plates. The frontis is plate 63, the rest of plates 1 to 111 are printed in yellow and black as are the 7 plates of the appendix, the 6 plates of the supplement are printed in brown and black. Quite a few plates are folding. There is an introductory essay by Dawson Turner. Volume two (Suffolk); iv, 31pp plus coloured frontis and 46pp other plates. As with volume one the plates are printed in yellow and black. In total there are 171 plates. The leather to both volumes is quite worn and rubbed. Bevelled edges. Aeg. 14.75ins x 11ins, volume one: xxvi, 92pp plus 20 full page tissue guarded colour plates. Volume two: [iv], pps 93 to 204 plus 21 full page tissue guarded colour plates. Also b&w chapter heading illustrations of river scenes. The plates were drawn by A.F. Lydon. Previous owners name to half title of each volume. Top & bottom of spines worn. Five raised bands to spine. Gilt lettering to spine (from original spine title) and horizontal gilt lines beside raised bands. 12ins x 9.75ins, new endpapers, [xi], (i), 274pp, [8pp - contents of appendix], clxii (appendix) plus large folding map(hand coloured in outline) and 31 plates of which 12 are double-page size. Also title page vignette and 7 other (chapter ending) vignettes.The map has several tape repairs to the verso. The new inner endpapers are (in my opinion) inappropriately bright white. Some offsetting to text pages facing plates and occasional age toning. The boards look to be original and are rubbed to the corners. But, overall a VG copy.

Contempory (or near contemprary) half leather binding with marbled boards. 12.5ins x 10ins, l, [6pp], 302pp plus frontis and 39 sepia printed plates. Previous owners signature to verso of frontis.There are old repairs to the verso of the frontis, pps 9/10 and 59/60. There is a small amount of loss to the margin of plate 4. Lightly foxed throughout. Marbled boards rubbed. Bottom corners very worn. Hinges re-inforced with fabric. A complete and attractive copy of this scarce first edition. VG.

Printed for L.Davis, C. Reymers and B. White, London, 1766, reprint (first edition 1725). Full leather binding comprising original boards (restored) with a later replacement spine. Horizontal gilt lines to spine. Gilt lettering on red leather patch to spine. Folio, 16ins x 10.25ins, vi, 148pp plus 2 plans of sluices and 5 maps (4 folding). This volume was extensively restored in 1984 (binders notes included). The title page, first 4 pages (preface & contents) and the plan of Denver sluice have been encased in bookbinders lens tissue on both sides. The second sluice plate and the first map have been covered on one side. The whole volume was resewn, fitted with new endpapers and preserved in a purpose made slipcase. Nb please note the spine label reads ""Armstrong, Navigation, 1766"". A VG well preserved copy.

Printed for Longman, Hurst, Rees and Orme, London, 1804, 1st edition (2nd issue with pages 215-220 suppressed). Later quarter green leather binding with green cloth boards. Gilt lettering and decoration to spine. 10.75ins x 8ins, xx, 432pp, [vi](technical terms, index, errata) plus sepia frontis portrait, six sepia plates, 2 plates depicting gun parts (one folding), a large folding plate detailing game laws and two folding charts at the rear being a Sportsmans weekly Journal and a Breeding Journal. Pages 215-220 were cancelled in later issues because "" the author had been a little too outspoken over a controversy concerning the Manton Patent Breech, that arose between Mr Manton and the Duke of Richmond"". Some occasional light foxing but overall a VG handsomely bound volume.

Printed for Joseph Johnson, London, 1774, 2nd edition with additions. (First published 1773). Later full leather binding. Gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Gilt borders to front and rear boards. 12.75ins x 8.25ins, marbled endpapers, vi, {6pp} (being 5pp list of subscribers, 1pp poem and errata), 120pp (1-116 plus 87*-90*) plus folding map, folding diagram, folding chart and 9 full page plates of notable buildings. Includes much information about the variety and quantity of imports and exports. Offsetting to the text pages opposite the plates. Both map and chart had short tears to the folds - these have now been repaired using japanese vellum. VG well preserved copy of scarce title.

Five raised bands to spine, title and author lettered in gilt on black leather patches to compartments 2 & 4, gilt decorative design to other compartments. Blind stamped decorative device to centre of front and rear board.Large paper copy. 14.5ins x 12ins, [vi], xvii, (i), 276pp plus 38 plates (as listed) of which 14 are in colour. The plates include two versions of the inside of the painted chamber - on on stone and one on copper, pages 48 and 50. A nice clean copy in a very attractive binding. Aeg. Bound by Carls & Co, Glasgow. 17ins x 11ins (large paper copy), watered silk free endpapers, xii, (ii), 223pp, 12pp (list of subscribers) plus 52pp plates of which 4 are vignette illustrations. All plates present. To the centre of the front pastedown is a partial label which reads ""From George Douglas Glasgow to William Imrie, esq, Liverpool 1843"". Old tape repair to tear pps 97/98. Front watered silk enpapers a bit grubby. Front hinge beginning to crack but holding firm. Clean attractive plates, a VG copy. Nb heavy book, over 4kg, please check with seller for postage quote.
